Do you in foreign climes have the joy of Tropicana?

I am convinced that the Gods snacked purely upon Tropicana and Hobnobs... more addictive than crack.

Pasties:
In the US (this is what I've heard, I would have no first hand knowledge on the subject, mind you), pasties (pronounced paste-ees) are the small covers that topless dancers put on their nipples so their breasts aren't totally exposed.
In other parts of the globe, as well as the Upper Peninsula of the State of Michigan, pasties (pronounced past-ees) are meat and potato and onion pies with thick crusts, and they are quite delicious.

Headache Powders:
In the US, especially in the south, they are known by their brand names: Goody's, BC, and Stanback.
Basically a combination of aspirin, acetaminophen (Tylenol) and caffeine, in powdered form. Individually wrapped in little paper folds that could easily be confused for other things.
Work best when placed on the back of the tongue and chased ASAP with water or coffee.
It's aversion therapy......the things are so foul that you forget you have the headache.

Re Pasties:
Perhaps some fusion of the two is in order.

I would rather not have baked nipples in my pasties!

And the 'a' in pasties is short, as in tap in most parts of the UK.

Hmm, sound suspiciously like Bex.... a headache powder we had /still do have here in Oz ( australia )...the saying went " oohh a coupla bex and a good lie down "... unfortunately for many, a good lie down was eventually discovered to be permanent, as the damage done to your liver by these products was disasterous.

Lilian Jackson Braun ("The Cat Who..." mystery series)
seems to know about pasties. My grandfather used
to teach school in her neck of the woods, so I imagine
he ate a few pasties in his time.
Maybe someone could add headache powder to pasties and
market them.

Headache Pasties.... marketing genius.
"Do you have a headache? (character on screen nods)
Would you like a pastie - no, not that sort. (character on screen nods enthusiastically, and then even more enthusiastically)
Well then buy the new HEADACHE PASTIE from Outrageous TM, good, tasty, hangover cures!"

I read recently that most headaches are caused by dehydration of the body and, ergo, the brain. As a result two glasses of water would do more good than the aspirin/paracetamol/powdered-dung-beetle in the little tablet or folded paper thingee...!

But that's available in the tap. This way the pharmaceutical companies make more money.
