Yes, the central reservation is the strip between two carriageways.
I did read recently were the expression 'a night on the tiles' comes from, but it has escaped. It does mean going out, getting rather merry and coming in very late.

You can really bore yourself silly by selecting one of the tours or webcams on the M25:

It took Kes an hour and a half to travel 35 miles coming home from work yesterday. I don't know why they call them motorways... parkways would be closer to the fact.

Yeah.
It's like, there are so few carjackings in England, not because we have particularly fantastic police or good motor security, it's just that you wouldn't be able to go anywhere once you'd got the car .

I love motorways, I'm even rather fond of the M25, it has lovely cambers it would make a fantastic race track! But when it gets held up or the Mexican wave effect starts you need lots of really good cds to listen to.

I misunderstood, I thought you said "Mexican Heat Wave".
Books on tape, I've never heard one of them. I think if I get one, it'll be Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as read by Stephen Fry. I like Stephen Fry.

I think "night out on the tiles" is an analogy for a bachelor cat having lots of fun on the roof of a house ...
Oh, what? Have we gone past the tiles bit? Oh well, better tesselate than never ...

An artist who used tesselation
Was marooned amid great desolation
With a lawyer, a thief,
And huge hunk of beef,
Which led to some strange legislation.
