I should have been on alert when I realised that the logo read, "Coca-Cola Light", as opposed to the more normal, "Diet Coke".
But I wasn't paying much attention. I needed a drink, and I'd run out of the usual multi-pack canned stuff from the supermarket. So I grabbed a couple of these bottles from the corner store.
The bottle is the same size and shape as the 500ml one that we know and love in the UK. The label is the same size and same colour. The bottletop is the same white plastic. It's just the logo that's different. Oh, that and the taste.
So I look a little more closely at what I'd bought.
The label has some weird looking Cyrillic, or Hindi, or... definitely foreign script on it. And a nice helpful little label in English that says, "Produce of Georgia".
I don't think we're talking Atlanta here...

I actually find that even domestic Coke changes its flavour on regular occasions. Obviously the secret formula isn't that adverse to occasional tinkering.

Coke lite has a different sweetener to diet coke - and I like our one better - certainly was down to the sweetener when we went on holiday!

I've never understood it, myself. If I want a coke, I'll have a coke. If I want something that isn't unhealthy, I'll have a glass of water.
"I'll have a full English breakfast, and a Diet Coke please"

Or saccharin. I drink either and immediately I get a nasty taste in my mouth and I need a drink...
Although some people I know do drink Diet Coke because they prefer the taste - takes all sorts, I suppose

People think I'm strange because things with aspartame or sacharinne in them taste incredibly sour to me - I get a metallic taste in my mouth when I drink something containing them.

Me too. I've wondered whether it's genetic because one of my sons feels the same. Any of your offspring?

I prefer diet coke for the taste, although it's much more addictive than normal coke. I crave it lots, and fizzy drinks with caffeine in are *really* bad for women. I've been trying to switch to pepsi max as apparently it's got no sugar or sweetner in it, but it's not as avalable as coke.

I feel blessed that I don't like *any* coke/cola.
Gimme a every time!!
I keep cans in the fridge for visitors (Andrew likes the Robinsons dilute-to-taste stuff)
My older daughter though, is totally addicted to Diet Coke she has about 6 cans a day.

On the rare occasions that I feel like a Coke, I must admit do prefer the taste of Diet Coke, though I'm not sure why. I could never drink Pepsi of any variety, though - it has a really unpleasant peppery flavour.
Whatever happened to Coola Cola?

Sad to say, I'm a Lucozade addict. I woke up this morning with a 2-bottle hangover, and had an ice-cold bottle of SmithKline Beecham's finest straight out of the fridge. Can't beat it.

Cant tell you that I am afraid PF but I am certainly in the diet coke tastes better camp - but it has to be really cold . I also dont drink Pepsi - its just not the same or nice at all.
Full fat coke leaves me feeling really thirsty
I used to be totally addicted to diet coke - before I had the job I used to have a diet coke at the same time every day - I needed to be in the factory so the guys working shifts could find me - so I went to the canteen every day for half an hour over shift change - and had a diet coke. When I moved to job diet coke was not available and it was then I realised I was addicted! I had to substitute with diet Dr Pepper
I had some of the lime diet coke the other day at a BBQ - that was quite good ...

I was led to believe that sodas from different countries taste different because of the water used in the processing. Makes sense. Canadian sodas taste different from the same American sodas - the Canadian ones are nasty (although I'm sure they feel the same way about ours).
I'm a Pepsi person, but if the only thing available is a diet I'll have a Diet Coke.
Ages ago I used to work in a department store snack bar, and about once a week one of our other employees came in for an ice cream float made with Diet Coke . I always wondered what the point was.
