Single malt whisky is safe?
Alcohol is probably the biggest single reason we're recluses.

Well, case in point, Roymondo. What if you had to buy your JD from whatsit on the street corner. And you never knew if one day it would be 25% or another day maybe 80%. And the prices were always fluctuating. And if your 'source' was maybe feeling the pinch he might add a bit of 'something else' to your JD to make you feel like you were getting your money's worth . . . but that something else might just kill you.
At least with rioja I more or less know the possible damage I'm doing - 12% alcohol.
People really don't know sh*t when they buy drugs from their 'friendly neighbourhood' dealer - even if it's someone they think they know. Because he isn't manufacturing the stuff - he's just selling. No guarantees of it being safe.

Yeah but if most pot smokers are smoking home grown stuff then they have a "reasonable" idea of where it came from. Particularly if they know the grower personally.
Still that is no gaurentee you will know how strong the stuff is.

Not for me it isn't.
But ya know, I at least know how much alcohol per volume is in each dram. Which has not usually stopped me from ending up with the most ridiculously horrific single malt whisky hangovers . . . but happily they only happen every few years or so (after I've forgotten about the previous one).

And your analogy with the whiskey is exactly the sort of thing that went on during the prohibition. The less reputable moonshiners were diluting their product with everything from iodine to laquer to brake fluid. And what they were diluting might very well be wood alcohol.

Hence the necessity for legalisation & control. I really have to leave this before I post something like 'Coke is cool'. It isn't, it's overpriced and overrated, but you know how drink affects postings.

Thanks Roymondo
Another question - but one that may get modded - the quacks say you can't get addicted to codeine unless you don't actually need it (seems a bit dodgy to me but of course we all know doctors never lie, make mistakes or give you anything that might harm you ). That seems to imply that some pople who don't need it might take it for recreational use. Why would they do that? What does it do to them?

Hmmm can you get high off codeine?
When I strained my medial knee ligament recently I was given "co-codamol" has that got codeine in?

I can't remember what Morphine derivates (or synthetic equivalebts thereof) feel like - it's an area that I don't wish to explore any further than I have (chasing once about 5 years ago). See my previously mentioned journal entry to explain why a personal disinclination has become a *never again* situation.

Yep, co-codamol has codeine in it.

Well it didn't get me high, or stop my knee form hurting to be honest.....

Don't know how anyone can bear the smell or taste of whisky
At least adding Coke makes it almost drinkable.
But Coke IS cool Roymondo. 'specially Cherry Coke.
We discovered on Christmas day that it even makes wine taste reasonably OK...

"co-codamol" contains 8mg per tablet FB. I think the smallest pure codeine tablets they do are 16mg each.

Ach, I keep getting dragged back! The Codeine element of Co-Codamol is enough to numb stuff but not enough to buzz you up. If you took enough to buzz you up you'd be seriously stuffed by the paracetamol element.
Cherry Coke? Hmm, I like it in '88!
The *other* Coke? Pleasant enough but there are much, *much* better ways to spend £50. 10 CDs for example, or possibly 10 DVDs. Or perhaps a quick hand shandy from a disreputable individual?
I told you I should scarper!

Tefkat Posted Jan 4, 2006
£50? Really? Gosh, if "a quick hand shandy" means what I suspect it does I think I feel a change of career coming.
