Oh I plan to visit as much as possible. I'm even contemplating the idea of planning to have my graduation ceremony in December instead of right after I finish my classes. The winter ceremonies are supposed to be much less crowded...
Wot-evah!!!

Working in Dartmouth is odd after spending much of my life away. The town only has a population of about 8000, and my family has lived in the area for untold generations. My grandfather was a pharmacist with a shop in the town for nearly fifty years, and sat on nearly every committee except for the town council. My Dad grew up in the town, and started his career on the local paper. Even my younger brothers became very well-known.
All this means that everyone local, young or old, knows who I am, and even relative newcomers soon know me as the young man from Somerfield!

Well, it's near enough. Just imagine some tousled brown hair flecked with grey, and a ruddy complexion.
I may send some photos out in the near future. I've been meaning to prove to everyone just how good the view from my office window is, too.

yeah, the description just isn't doing it for me... i'm trying to picture it and trying... and all i'm coming up with is a younger michael cain
dunno why.
no one ever recognizes me when i'm out. when they do they either can't place me (that vague 'i know her, but i don't know what her name is or where i know her from... maybe she just stood in line in front of me at the store the other day' look) or they recognize me from school and then try to pretend they don't (that specific 'oh, it's that girl from school... maybe if i pretend to be oblivious she won't recognize me too' look)

I saw an older Michael Caine last night at the
movies. I saw "The Quiet American." I left the
theater at the end with no idea who killed the
title character or why. Or why any of it mattered.
Did I miss something?

I never run into people I know. Not even when we go back to visit Crescent City, and I lived there 4 years! (Longest I've ever lived under one roof) And it's not like the place is big--I doubt there's 8000 people in the entire county! *Tom* always sees at least one person he knows...

It can happen right across the world even - I visited NYC in 1985 with a girlfriend from Detroit who I was living with in London (with me so far?). We were only there for a week, but as we were walking down Broadway, somewhere around the 70s I think - Upper West Side, we bumped into someone she went to college with in Ann Arbor and hadn't seen since graduation. Now, how is that?
