I just heard on the radio that today is 'Squirrel Appreciation Day'.
Apart from planting a few acorns, WTF have squirrels ever done that I should appreciater them, other than being one of Mother Nature's creatures? W(ho)TF ever dreamt that one one up? And WTF was he on at the time?
As soon as Dewey comes back in, I'm gonna tell him to get back out there and 'appreciate' a few squirrels
And it seems that we have another problem with racoons. This time there's one which keeps getting into the space between our ceiling and the floor of the apartment upstairs.

I think that squirrels richly deserve
an appreciation day. They entertain
us by pracically flying through the air to
get at the seed in our birdfeeders. They do
highwire acts on electric lines high above
our heads, sometimes above busy highways.
To their credit, a lot of them pull it off
flawlessly.
And I know of a plastic one that even writes
and performs music.

They also build nests in your chimneys, chew up your roof and destroy countless pieces of wood trim on your houses.
Except for the singing plastic variety.

Lady Scott:
Not in my chimney. They can't get in. Of course,
I have a kerosene heater, and the smokestack is
fairly narrow, and there's mesh around the opening.
There is no wood trim on my house. I have aluminum siding.
Apparently, squirrels don't like the taste of aluminum.
My roof seems not to have been touched by the skwirls.
Of course, I could just be lucky.

Yeah, you've been lucky.
They have been known to chew through not only those mesh chimney covers but sheet metal ones (for old sealed off fireplaces), too.
They've also chewed through the main electrical lines coming into the house a couple of times.

Fluffy Pink Rabbit, shame on you!
No Easter eggs for you this year.

Hey Rabbit! TJ's trying to work now, and you chewed through the electric lines! He can't work, and that means he'll get fired, and we'll starve to death!
