Welcome. I am happy to be a writer for the H2G2. I have no idea what I'm going to do, but I have a lot of ultra-neat-o ideas, and any second now, they're going to be vomitted all over the H2G2.
Be sure to check out Ask h2g2 if you have any questions (or answers) about anything. And I mean anything. That forum has about the most diverse (and unusual) group of people that I have encountered in any online community.
Oh, and in case you haven't seen this enough yet: From the famous Arecibo Observatory, which houses the world's largest single dish radio telescope, scientists are listening out for transmissions from space. Participate in this project for the search for extraterristrial life with other h2g2 Researchers on The SETI@home Project. If you do take part, there is a small but captivating possibility that your computer will be the one to first detect a message transmitted from an alien civilization. Wow.
