A sign of the times

Every wednesday evening I cross the East Link toll bridge in rush hour to go to football training. Traffic is always terrible so I have spend many hours stuck next to the builders supplies firm "Screws, Nuts, Bolts, Fixtures and Fittings" which I always thought was a great name.
Last night a new sigh had been put up in it's place: "Screw this, we're relocating to the M50". smiley - smiley

Luckless stopper...

From the irish star 15-02-2005:

Phoenix Ath 2 - 0 Conwell Rovers

"Just two minutes had elapsed when Gareth Pepper whipped in a fine cross from the left and Synott was in the perfect position eight yards out to divert the ball past the outstretched left hand of rovers keeper Duncan Jones"
...
"And this hope was dashed further with 20 minutes to go when man of the match Lawlor hit a smashing volley from a half cleared corner past Jones after a long period of dominance. They had tested Jones time and again before lawlor's strike and Byrne had a volley sail over the crossbar before a shot from Pepper hit the luckless stopper full in the face on 70 minutes. The brave keeper needed lengthly attention before play resumed, but it was just a brief respite for the visitors as Lawlor went on to seal the points for Phoenix".

Some slight innacuracy - my patented face-save actually occured at the end of the first half....

Old bones

I had my first full training session with "Conwell Rovers FC" last night - a full two hours of curcuit training and sprints and so on - and boy do I ache this morning. It is always a shock to realise how much older these bones have become smiley - winkeye
