Running your own business from home is not all it's cracked up to be
Posted Aug 24, 2005
There seems to be a significant lag between starting the business and any money coming in, and having just myself for company may well be causing me to go insane.
Fortunately I am alternating between Radio 7 and Radio Senegal on the internet so have some small pleasures.

New season, old knees
Posted Aug 21, 2005
A successful start to the season: Conwell Rovers won 4-2
However my knees are as tired as if I'd run 10 miles...which, as it turns out, Christina had done that day.

Summer arrives in Dublin
Posted May 26, 2005
As the swans in Blackrock park have presented their six new cygnets
this morning.
It's funny - I have cycled past this swan family on my daily commute
for about 4 years and am really caught up in their "nature red in tooth and claw" annual struggle to get the next batch of cygnets out into the world.
The first year all six reached adulthood but one had developmental
problems (it's flight feathers didn't grow) so this disrupted their
nesting the next year and they nested too late in the year - only one
of that lot survived through the winter...and last year the park was
overrun with rats when the waste ground across by Booterstown was
cleared to build luxury appartments and all the eggs were taken.
So - fingers crossed for this year's new arrivals. They have a journey
ahead of them.

Quitting - again...
Posted May 24, 2005
I have decided that I'm not renewing my contract this time - the danger of becoming obsolete has overcome the fear of unemployment.
I will be taking a few weeks off in July before deciding what I am doing next, but will probably be looking at getting the Printer Monitoring stuff to the next level and seeing if that is a commercial viability.
Fortunately my car is just £2000 away from completion so the money side isn't a major worry (yet).
It probably will be in 3 months time, but I think it is better to give it a go rather than looking back in x years time with "I wonder if..." thought.

Do panic
Posted May 7, 2005
I'm off to see the film now - and do you think I can find my H2g2 T-shirt anywhere? No I cannot. I think there may be eddies in the space time continuum.
