evening. I am not actually in Brum (near N*n**ton, rather... tho' vehemently denying it), but it's the nearest decent city. (And Southerners think I sound Brummie... but what d'they know?)
Meet'd be good, I reckon the Eds. getting sick of me trashing the prevalence of London as a venue.

Me 2
Well, I work near the NEC but live north of Brum so a Brum meet up would be better for me.
I know a joke about nuneaton, wanna hear it?

Bloke gets on a train and sits down.
He has a full packet of biscuits.
When he gets off, he still has a full packet of biscuits.
Where does he get off?

Think I heard that one... tho' may have encased it in concrete, burned it and buried the remains as with everything else in the 'Nuneaton box'.
I am suprised there are not more jokes, although I suppose the town itself suffices.
(can you believe we have *tourists*!?)
Anyway, Brum meet'd be lovely, thankyou.

So, end august? I'm away beginning of Sept for a week on a canal boat on the chesire border. Other than that, who knows?
And where? Somewhere near transport links os those of us outa town can get back OK. Isn't broad street kinda dancy / clubby / lager lout territory? Prefer somewhere without a dress code!
any ideas?
(p.s. thinking about it, I did find that joke around the time when they were digging up the foundations for the M6....)

I'm sure classically pale suits you.
Anywhere fairly non-mainstream (i.e no townies) is preferable. I have a clutch of other Researchers who would probably attend also.

I get the same, pale no matter what! Hmm, tall, pale, long hair, all I need is an addiction to laudnum or valium or summats and I'd be a romantic poet
So, not 'towny', an outside / inside do would be good. Any decent pubs with proper beer gardens anywhere about? Perhaps outside town?
Does birmingham have decent parks?
Oh, and are we talking an afternoon do? An evening do? or both?

cheap as possible. Should we bring obscure drugs for Ictoan? (btw have you considered lettuce?)
Hello fellow Brummie
IctoanAWEWawi Posted Jul 31, 2002
Considered lettuce? I spend whole evenings just contemplating the stuff!
Erm, not the August Bank Holiday either, busy re-enacting in Stafford. So does anyone here actually know of anywhere suitable? i think we need to state somewhere and then people can object / agree. I only know Stafford so can;t really suggest any Brum venues.
So, hows about we just brain storm them?
*lightbulbsmilie*
Anyone here got Links with brum uni or owt? We could slide in and take over their frashers do in Sept/Oct (whenever it is) and pretend we is freshers

IctoanAWEWawi Posted Aug 1, 2002
well you can invite us to your freshers week then
Centenery square, perhaps not the most salubrious surroundings?
But then I don;t really know it so....
Any other comments?
