Well, I went out with a girl who claimed that Bromsgrove was a part of Birmingham, so I think you're on fairly safe ground there.

I wasn't.... but that was for other reasons...
Bromsgrove part of Birmingham?
Not sure which place would be more insulted by that

Orcus, Master B.
As far as I'm concerned the following areas are part of Birmingham.
Sutton Coldfield, Bromsgrove, Solihul (Solihull, however the hell you spell it)
I think that the majority of residents erm, residing in those areas will probably try to say otherwise.
As long as they have Birmingham phone numbers, post-codes, and accents I will consider them to be Brummies.
Have fun and enjoy!

I'd have to disagree with Bromsgrove.
Bromsgrove doesn't have Birmingham phone numbers. Sorry but I know someone who lives there, it's not even in 'The West Midlands' conurbation. It's in Hereford and Worcestershire.
As to having a Birimingham Post code, well I grew up in a town called Bedford which has an MK post code (Milton Keynes) and it most definitely is *not* part of Milton Keynes, that's just where the nearset postal sorting office is.
I agree about Solihul though, it may now have it's own Borough council but it's still in Birminham whether they like it or not!!!

I couldn't give a poo if Bromsgrove has moved the county boundries
I too know people from said place, although I don't feel the need to apologise about it like you did
I was in fact just being facetious earlier...
Have fun and enjoy!

Now, call this controversial if you will, but I actually quite like the sound of LLoyd Grossman's voice. It's urban, well-educated and is the home to all the fun little nuances of speech that are so much needed by the likes of Tony Blair. No, seriously...

You 'like' the sound of Lloyd Grossman's voice?
Is there something we should know about you?
I love the way you've refered to Mr. Grossman's voice as well-educated... I find the choice of words you've used amusing
Have fun and enjoy!

GreatGranny & Grandad Weatherwax now live in Bromsgrove, via someplace else that used to be the County town back when there was such a thing, and via Roughley, Sutton, and via Acocks Green, and via Solihull.

A mate of mine has moved to live in New England and since he moved has developed a quite stunnin Lloyd Grossman style accent.
He was most insulted when I told him this, anyway, he reckoned my accent was turning Brummie - something that no true Brummie would ever notice.

Mu Beta Posted Apr 19, 2002
I was going to say - rather Grossman than Brummoy, thankyou very much.

Probably not the most tactful thing to say on what is becoming the Brummie society homepage, but do you really want an accent that makes yow sownd stoopid with everything you say?
(oh God...approaching 100 posts in 24hrs. Must cut down)

Afternoon everyone
Personally speaking, I absolutely hate the way Brummies speak, and in particular, younger Brummies... from the areas of um.. Aston, Handsworth etc... It's a kind of Patwa, Brummie mix...
Simply awful.
We do indeed sound incredibly thick and I cannot believe that you asked if we really want to sound like that Master B.
BTW who do you know who pronounces the word 'stupid' as stoopid? Get them some help quick I don't we say Yow either... I think that's more of a Yam Yam word 'ay it?'
Have fun and enjoy!
