Oh, can I pick your brain? LEO and my dictionary have let me down. Is there a word "Schnurr", apart from when it's used in Schnurrbart? I've never come across it and it's not in either of those.

The word is "schnurren", which means "to purr"

(Or possibly "die Schnur", a string or thread.)

The 13th could be possible...I can't say for sure. I'll be down south at least some of that weekend. But if I can't make it, I'll shout you a birthday dinner another night.

I'll assume that weekend is out then for hiking purposes and plan the rest of it accordingly.

And now apparently there's a fire drill scheduled, which I found out about from the firemen, but not even they can tell me when
