MSN services, and some of the Hotmail alone, have been quite fickle lately. If you do get in there, there ought to be a note with a few alternate e-mail addresses. Should you find yourself really bored.

Mine are all pretty simple, incorporating my real name in one way or another. Not a lot of imagination, ya see.

I suppose it's the "Herbert" part of it that gets confusing, eh? Or the Ignatius.
On hootoo, I respect pseudonyms always. Unless an individual is comfortable with their given names. In my case, I don't have a worry as I don't think there'll be another researcher closer than 150 miles.

I actually rather like it. It simple, strong, and not entirely too common.
By an odd coincidence, the senior of our family to arrive in Canada, around 1848, was also named Nicholas. We only learned this when I was about 30'ish.

Couldn't tell you anyting about my family, past my grnadfather.
No offence, but it seems to be more of an american thing finding out about your ansestors than a British thing. I think it's because we're worried we might find out we're related to Dick Turpin, or Robin Hood.</> Good grief that would never do!!

*ahem* We CANADIANS like to know from what stock we come as well.
If you take into account that our country is only 138 years old, everything about us is quite young. So knowing that not so many generations ago, my family spoke German as a primary language is of a bit of interest. And called themselved "Prussians" first, and Canadians secondly. Your country, on the other hand, goes back how long? It's quite likely you are related to your neighbor, even if it is separated by 30, 50 or 150 generations ...

In the old "tongue", we were Deutsch. I guess there are still quite a number Keip's around Austria, Germany and even a few in France. There's no way to know if we're related, so we're generally content to know what little we do.
It's commonly understood that my family had a great fascination with the new world. Just days before the constabulary came to call. Something about more horses in their stables than they had purchase papers for.

I've always thought it's better to be known, even if as an unsavoury character, than to be invisible.
So, have you fiercely and intimidatingly scowled at your Hotmail account until it submitted to your will?

It's a government issued e-mail account. So it MUST look mightily important. I'm surprised they haven't insisted I get a bigger name too.

Ah well, I'm just contracted help. Beneath much consideration, if not actual contempt. So they don't worry over-much.
