Wednesday 2nd June

What a wonderful superb brilliant day.smiley - biggrin I celebrated my 'new found' health by chopping down another tree in the garden. it has been tempting me to take an axe to it since spring as it was obviously dead. After the last axe job I felt poorly so I just left it there daring me to risk my life by swinging an axe! Anyway I did the deed this morning and felt wonderful after, smiley - steamif a little breathless.
After lunch I went into Pz to see the Wednesday friends. A beautiful drive, sun shining, blue skies. I can see Madron Carn from the top of the hill as I drive in across the moors and it is ablaze with rhododendrons, a breath taking sight.
The Curley Headed one has given me a disc so that I can save everything on this when I shut it down, which I have to do because I have lost the drive to get pictures from my camera and so I have to start the whole lot from scratch. I wonder if when I come back all my journals will still be here?
I am doing the shut down next week and the curley headed one is going to talk me through it on the phone.
The Author and I had a coffeee this P.M.and he told me his book has got the interest of a film director and they are looking for a producer. I am pleased for him as he has been writing and revising the book for nearly eight years.
The son and The children came in later and he told me if the sea is right we will go out in the boat tomorrow. I told The Boss I was going to try water skiing and she had hysterics, so I said I wouldn't, (but I still might<evilgrin.)

Tuesday 1st June

Talk about making a fuss over nothing, what a wimp I turned out to be. Saw the Doc and was told that my B.P.was good 120 over 70 that my chloresterol was only a bit high should be 5 and is 7, but as long as I don't eat too much fat I should be good for years yet. Apparently I am in very good shape for my age but I do need to take a little more exercise perhaps I shouldsmiley - run?
Splendid weather again today and I pottered in the garden this a.m. and we went to Pz this afternoon. I was a bit annoyed to come home and discover Rusty, mysmiley - cat friend from next door had picked my new flower bed to do his business and scratched up some of my baby plants. I shall have words with him when I see him next, in the mean time I have taken steps to keep him off the border!!
When looking at some old family papers to find some stuff for the oldest G.S. to use in his family project, I turned up the story of my G.G. grandmother Mary Clarke who had all her teeth out and kept them in a little box (in case they could be put back one day) and who sacked a maid who worked for her, in revenge the maid stole the teeth and threw them away. Poor Mary was distraught and refused to speak for days afterwards. I also found a letter my grandfather wrote when she died which is hilarious by todays standards . He wrote," Mother's strident voice is silenced in this stricken world of ours, but no doubt her clarion but blessed words will resound among God and His heavenly hosts".. I think that gives some idea of the woman's character!
The Son told me yesterday that he and his partner have now bought the management company which looks after Hayle harbour, I hope they are not over reaching themselves.
There are stores on the harbour, one of which he hopes to use in the winter to keep the boat in. I have told him he would do better to rent the store out and keep the boat where it is, in his drive. I don't suppose he will listen but as they borrowed the money to buy the company I think they need to pay back as much as they can as fast as they can.
Why do kids never listen to their parents?

31st.May

Bank holiday monday and we awoke to a Cornish special. Thick fog pouring rain and windy.
I struggled up the road for the papers but still managed to stop and chat to two or three people. Once we get chatting the weather doesn't seem to matter.smiley - brave We are a tough breed.
The kids all piled in as we were finishig lunch and asked us if we wanted to go to Camborne with them. We did and crowded into the people carrier. We went to Big W.(I preferred it when it was Homeworld), and then went into Poole Market. Bought some odds and bits had a mooch around Do It All, and then back home. On the way home the eldest G.S. asked me if I would help him with his school project 'My family'. Of course I said yes. And as I can trace my lot back to 1790 I have plenty of material.
I have been watching Coronation St. lately because The Friend Who Acts has quite a big part in it. He has actually finished filming now but will be seen for a few more weeks. He came down for my 70th birthday party and although we tried and tried he would not tell us how the plot works out, however I think he will turn out to be a baddie. He and I have been friends for more than thirty years. We were both so poor at one time we went potato picking, he went on with his acting career but I was married to The Boss and needed to get real work, but although he has had some success he has stayed my mate.
Tomorrow I see the Doc and find out for sure why I have been put on this low fat diet. I was bad today I ate a very high fat ice cream(but only one). I wonder if I am smiley - ill? I shall know tomorrow.

Sunday

Sometimes(like today) I think my life is just drifting by with no aim or purpose. When I was working Sunday was always a day for getting out and doing things, now unless we are involved with the family we just idle the day away. Usually we go out to lunch because we can't be bothered to cook it. Today we cooked at home because we couldn't be bothered to go out. We have managed to sort out a practically fat free sunday roast and it was pretty good. Leg of lamb with all the trimmings and no dripping!
I did go up to get the papers and at about 4 this P.M. we managed to drag ourselves out for a walk. It was really pleasant and although we were only out for about half an hour we did enjoy it. This really has been a nothing sort of day. We haven't even seen the kids or heardfrom them which is unusual. While we were out we walked past their house and the boat was in the drive but no car. I thought they would have taken the boat out it issuch good weather but I expect they were on the beach!!!

Saturday

we both slept until after 9 this morning smiley - yawn and by the time I had walked up for the papers and we read them the morning had gone.
The Boss was feeling well so we trotted off to Pz. I bought a cookery book 'Low Fat Low Salt' I hate having to watch my diet but the book seems to have some good recipes in it. I was worried that I would have to live off bland rubbish for the rest of my life, however it is not so and we had lasagne and salad for dinner tonight.
While we were in town I called on The Restless Native's wife to see how things were and she told me both the men were doing O.K. Last night not wasted then!
We bought flowers for The Eldest Son and went to the memorial but the flowers I put there last week were still good so we brought them home, when I go there on my own I talk to him and tell him what is going on in the family which I guess is pretty smiley - weirdbut that way I do not miss him quite so much. When The Boss is with me , as she was today, I just do the flowers and say nothing, but she doesn't go there very often as she can't bear it. I go twice a week every week, and I could not bear to miss my visits. His brother only goes on The Anniversary and always goes alone. We all have our different ways of handling these things, but handle it we do.
It has been wonderful sunshine again today. We drove along the prom and the sea was as calm as can be. I wondered if The Son would have the speed boat out but when he 'phoned this evening he told me he had spent the afternoon trying to persuade his best friend to try and make an attempt to get back to his wife with no success.
I had a chat with the woman who has bought the house next door this morning. She seems very pleasant. She is blonde and very attractive which is a pleasant change from the previous neighbour who was a teasy old man we did not get along with very well. He sold up and has gone off to Spain to live with his daughter and he is 92 years old so it is quite a brave thing to do.
