I started the day by clearing rubbish from the garden and taking it to the tip. Planted out some more busy lizzie seedlings and got rid of some weeds.
Went to the meeting, took Claire her picture of The Buddah. I think she liked it. I was quite pleased with it as it looked more like a painting than a photograph. these computers are great for copying pictures. I apologised to Sal for not getting to the art exhibition on Saturday and had a chat with Brian which was nice!
I booked our family lunch for the 16th of may at the Marazion Hotel.
I booked for eleven of us. Quite a family re union. The Boss is not looking forward to it. She does not really like meeting strangers and my family are pretty strange.
Mike came in later today. the guy he trains at the gym got into a bit of trouble at a Penzance night club and laid out a couple of policemen on Saturday night. That has got to be a few months in prison I should think.
Another day of mixed weather. No one seems to have seen last night's total eclipse of the moon. I couldn't be bothered to get out of my chair and walk outside and I guess others were the same.
I saw Rod in town. he looks well after his littleexcursion into the dark. We have a strange relationship. he is my godfather, I was his best man and sponsor. his wedding was amazing. There was a civil wedding here in Penzance and we all dressed up 50's style and the next day loads of us got into our cars and drove to the lake district where we partied for a week and on the following saturday the wedding was blessed in Rydall church. That was twelve years ago. how time flies.

I had a 'phone call today from my cousin in France. I have never met her but found her while researching my family on the internet. She is coming to Cornwall in a couple of weeks and we have arranged to meet. it should be interesting as we both have family history stuff the other doesn't have. My grandfather and her grandfather were brothers. my father changed his name and I had no idea what the family name was until after he died. I am really looking forward to meeting her.
I spent this morning in the garden and did quite a lot of work, the garden is beginning to look quite good.
I have been following the story about the supposed brutality against Iraquis by British soldiers. I think the pics are staged but we shall see. Why on earth our soldiers are out there any way I cannot understand. They should be here guarding our shores against illegal immigrants and sending the buggers back as soon as they land.
It has been a funny day weatherwise, rain and sunshine in turn.
Yvonne has had some pain again today which is a bit worrying.
loads of computers have been infected by a new virus. All the Cornwall county computers have gone down. So far my Norton protection seems to be working.

May Day
Posted May 3, 2004
This has been a really good day, two in a row is pretty dam good for us. We went out for lunch to a Little Chef because we had a voucher for 50% off. I had a salmon steak which was very good, The Boss had cod and chips which she said was good and the bill was only eight quid.
Then we went to Trerice an Elizabethan manor house near Newquay owned by The National Trust. There were loads of people looking around the house and most of them were like us-old!
After we had bought some plants and a little pair of 'wellies' to put by the 'phone to keep pens in, we drove to the other side of Cornwall for a cream tea at Helston, and as there were plants there we bought some more for the new flower bed I have made in the garden.
I saw my son's speed boat this morning. It is wonderful. Eighteen feet long, seats six and will do 45-50 knots. I can't wait to go out in it.
I really like keeping a diary this way. I can't think anyone else will bother to read it but I enjoy doing it. I wonder if I will be able to keep it up?

My Stuff
Posted May 2, 2004
I use to keep a diary when I was younger, unfortunately I decided one day they were too boring to keep and I ditched them. Now I wish I had kept them because I have lost some of my long term memory and I can't argue with my wife when she says about something that happened in the 80's. So I am going to put some stuff down here which will probably still be boring but at least I will be able to look stuff up if it comes to an argument!.
We have had a really good day today. We actually went for a walk which sounds ordinary enough, however my wife has been seriously ill and to get out in the sunshine and walk for about a mile is a real achievement for her.She spent most of last year in and out of hospital. She had two minor and three major operations and twice my son and I were called to her bedside because she was not expected to get better, however she is a tough Cornishwoman and fought her way back to recovery. I told her that if she didn't get better I was going to get myself a young blonde housekeeper so she made a real effort to get well!
We walked along Penzance promenade and out to Newlyn where a little shop sells the best ice cream in the world. We had ice cream with Cornish cream and a flake and sat on the beach to eat them. Luvverly!
The bay was busy with jet skis, yachts, and speed boats and even a few swimmers. I was so happy to be out with her. We have been together 48 years and she is my best pal.The sun shone it was warm and I felt like a kid,the years seemed to roll back and it was the way it was when we were courting, just two people pleased with each others company and at peace with the world. Such a good day today.
My son bought a speed boat yesterday, next Sunday he has promised to take us for a spin around the bay (That is Mounts Bay) and I am really looking forward to that, even 'tho I am seventy I am still a bit of a speed freak and sometimes, when I am in the car alone I push it to the limit, but only when the road is clear and I think it is safe for me to do so.I am hoping my son will let me take the wheel of his boat and have a bit of a burn up (if that term can be applied to speed boats)
