I've heard that if you hurt your back it's good to move a bit or it'll sieze up. Maybe there's something similar here. Move a bit so you don't jam up but not so much that you end up worse.

I do plenty of walking, which I believe is very good for the knees.
How's yourself? How is life treating you?

Walking is good. Used to walk a lot. Then I got a car. Not good.
I'm ok. Just a bit tired and stressed getting into a new job.

Good luck in your new job then and I hope it turns out all you would wish. Going on hols in 2 weeks. Fly out on 29th Oct. Girlfriend's son is the ceo of a company in USA and has invited us out there to stay with him, we only have to find the flight which is very cheap. Going to Clearwater in Florida. He is taking us to Disney and he has organised a 5 night cruise to the Cayman Islands then Mexico.

Not so sure now as we are going where Hurricane Wilma wil have been. Cozumel Mexico. Her son says it will be ok and the shipping line will cancel the cruise So we are keeping our fingers crossed.
How are you?

NPY Posted Oct 22, 2005
I'm ok. Think I've finally caught up on sleep.
So you might not be going!?!? That's not fair!! Well I suppose the hurricane's pretty good reason. Wouldn't be a terribly good holiday if you got blown away.
But you'll hopefully get going when it dies down.

NPY Posted Oct 23, 2005
Well at least it's not wasted then.
The new job.....well I left a few days ago. felt like I was getting sucken into a black whole. Don't think the gave me enough time to know all I needed to before leaving me to it.

Just arrived.
Sorry to hear of the job. There are those that think a quick two second run through is enough . They then sneer and sarcastically say they told you what to do. I've met them. Anyway. You're most like better of out of it, then.

It's because they are insecure. They feel threatened or inferior, so they must prove themselves superior. The best method of defence is attack, you know. I was told to think of them as a 10 year old, it lowers their threat to you, or perhaps naked. My problem is doing that I usually end up giggling and they think I'm a brain dead idiot.
There are always other jobs, it's not up to the employer to pick you, but the other way around. Pick what you want to do. I have been here for 33 years. I had the chance to move up in promotion but choose to stay where I am. To move up means leaving the front line, taking a desk job, working 9 to 5, doing nothing but paperwork.

True. Think you have to like what you do and enjoy doinbg it. You can't do a job for the wrong reasons.
By the sound of things, you muast like what you do, or you'd have taken the promotion. That or you just hate paperwork even more.

Like the job, like working shift work. Just don't want Monday to Friday 9-5 office job. Paperwork is a drag.

I don't mind doing the job, and passing the bumpf on to them to charged for it, adjust stocks levels and stuff.

Sorry I am in today, just been busy with various things. They are splitting a lot of the World Ssrvice up, and we may lose three posts and there's been a lot of discussion.

Doesn't sound so good. Keep hearing of all these places where they're reorganising their structure and jobs are at risk and all that.
Always discussion though, isn't it?

Sad to say this is reality. They are loosing about 10 language sections.
I have been here 33 years, and it would cost a fortune to make me redundant.
Although I might consider it. I have to retire in 4 years anyway and the money won't be on the table then.
