The fourth wall is the illusion of reality in a book, comic, movie, play, comic, tv show, or comic. Its broken when the charecters do something that shows they are aware they are in a . Just like in the Lion King when the warthog was about to say "fart" and the ... small animal thing said "not in front of the kids" and then looked at the screen.

'tis quite simple really...the fourth wall refers to the invisible wall between actor and audiance...so if the stage were a pentagon then there would be five walls...thusly you'd break down both the fourth and fifth walls on a pentagonal stage in the same manner as one would break the fourth wall on a rectagonal stage...a pick-axe...
