The only change in Yoda now: She slowly seems to loose her good manners (such as not eating from human's table)...
I suppose here we see that Terri was teacher; I am not...

Hi, Peter,
I am so glad you are keeping in touch. Yoda clearly knew who was boss. I think you may have to exert your authority a little Do let us know how Hoo Too and the others are doing these days. I think we all miss Terri's posts.
It was wonderful to see where she spent her last years, it looks so comfy and natural. The sort of place I have always wanted to live instead of in a city. I am so glad she found it, and you.
Take care,

Thank you, Peter.
Give Yoda time and much love.

Yoda's 'deteriorating manners' are amusing rather than annoying, because she misbehaves in her typical civilized or rather posh fashion...
As to the other animals - well, problems emerging here. Donkey seems to be in male teenage now, trying to attack everything which moves. So I had to lock him in a separate field, but here he gets even more bored and therefore frisky. Well, a companion is still on the cards, just delayed; that should solve that.
A much bigger problem is the dog. She is lovely as such and usually cooperating, but very bored with me. I have so little energy at present that often I don't walk her more than 10 minutes, plus may be another 5 minutes playing 'fetch'. And as I still cannot trust her not running over to the neighbors (caught her squeezing through a 6in square in sheepwire!), I have to keep her mostly chained up when outside, which she complains bitterly about. It is no fun. Think she would be great in a family with several kids playing with her or so.
Then again, I am unsure whether to give her away. Terri in her last weeks had several dreams about this dog happily playing with my old dog (the one I lost last Christmas).
I was hardly ever so undecided.

i'm sorry not being able to help
much as i would love to
maybe you should make up your mind, hmm? are you a dog person or a cat person?
i know now i'm a cat person, let those animals take care of themselves, they are quite capable, you know, and if in need of help (at all) you'll know)

I can't think of an ideal solution either, Peter. Trying to keep bored animals happy, but not wanting to give them up - it is such a dilemma. Perhaps if you found a really good alternative home for them. Sounds, too, as though you may need a bit of companionship yourself. Can you invite a friend over for a few days?

Hi Petch....
Nattered a few times with Terri, but too short a time....
Yoda as a cat will be Yoda, and cats are independant of us. Either they like you, or they do not, and nothing you can do will change that.....
On the other hand, you say, a much bigger problem is the dog. 'THE DOG'!! Petch???? What is her name????
Walk her 10 minutes, OK. Play 5 minutes, OK......... DO THAT THREE TIMES A DAY, AND YOU WILL GET THE DOG THAT YOU DESERVE, THE DOG THAT TERRI WOULD LOVE YOU TO HAVE!!!
I don't want to shout at you Peter, but things have to go on. If terri was here, she would be boxing your ears and telling you to get on with it!!
Terri's maxim: Life is for living!!!
Animals sense 'loss of confidence', and loss of confidence of a 'leader' to an animal equals a battle for leadership....
Who is the Boss, Petch????
Give them love, understanding and leadership.....
You catch 'her' trying to squeeze through wire to get into neighbouring property...(There we are again! I'm buggered if I am going to trawl through 'N' posts to find out your dog's name.(We have had six doggies, and can still name them all!)
Unless she is a biter, Peter.....DO NOT TIE HER UP!!!!
All she needs is attention. Keep her in the house with you.....
Tie her up??? Outside??? I am SHOCKED that you would say such a thing to Terri's HooToo friends...
Two and a half years ago, my wife and I lost our companion of twelve years. We got Lady when she was five years old, and a better dog you would have to travel the World to find.
Obidient?? Yes she was. Sit?Stop?Stay? Yes!
Heel??? You Bet!
No leash needed!
EVER!!!
Give the doggie attention and love, and you will be rewarded....
Sorry to go on Petch, but when someone refers to a pet without a name........

Sorry GT for troubling you. It will not happen again.
I suppose the moment someone is vulnerable, there will be some vulture to take advantage of it.
I should have known that.

GT, she is a lovely labrador called Woolie Bear.
Peter, when Mum died Dad wanted to give away his labrador pup because he was too upset/depressed to deal with her. My brother took her in for a few weeks, but then told Dad he had to take her back because it wasn't fair on the dog they already had. Floss was 9 months old and VERY willful. Dad talked to her all day long, everyday. Wherever he walked, she walked. He gave her constant commands and within a short time she was his constant companion. Five years on, they are like Derby and Joan - he tells her off, and she looks at him as if to say 'Oh yeah! We've been here before!' That dog loves him

Oh!
Petch, Petch, Petch!!!
I am NOT a vulture!!!
Trish (my wife) and I were VERY vunerable when we were told by the vet that Lady had to be put to sleep....
It was on the 9th July 2009.........Trish's birthday!
I do not want to take advantage!
All I wanted to say in my post is this...
You can name Yoda...
What about Woolly Bear? (Thanx Lil)
What about 'Donkey'?
Please do not look on hootooers who may seem strange to you as 'Vultures'
We all love and support you Peter.
Please do not reject that support.
Some of us are better at expressing it than others, that is all

Let him return when he is ready, and say no more on the matter
As for the donkey, he is called Hootoo, of course!

Petsch, wrong answer my friend, friends help friends no matter where they are, but sometimes advice given might not be to how a person wants to hear it. But true friends will still say it if they think it needed. You can NEVER trouble a friend

GT, re post 208 and 211, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself for posting such pathetic, uncalled for rants to someone who has sufferred a major loss. Whats more, this is not your journal, its a memorial/tribute journal to Terri and partner Peter, as such you have NO RIGHT to sound off in the manner you have. I suggest you post a full, unreserved apology to Peter and in future engage your brain before your mouth.

Are you sure?
I only got her through what she could type on a keyboard too small for her kind of humour - I wonder whether a bout of fisticuffs about who is her most solemn mourner doesn´t have her in stitches wherever she´s rallying new troops now.
Sorry ladies and lesser people - I swear I hear her giggling.

Please remember Peter is Terri's chief mourner. He was her RL partner for more than 2 years. He's laughed with her, cried with her and listened to all her problems - which were many.
I invited Peter into this thread so he would be among those who knew Terri well, and to ease his grief. Please show some respect and not turn this thread into a free-for-all. Yes, we all miss Terri, but there is one who is missing her so very much more.
This is just one journal that I request you all respect. I don't ask that very often.
love,
