It's shameful though, isn't it? I have 22 cake sites bookmarked. I am SO grateful to the Lovely Housemate.

Ben's choice. The others are fab, but not for a wedding. Hark at me. We rolled up to our reception with a few boxes we'd bought on the way from the local pattisserie. Pat...

Yeah. And in my official capacity, I'd probably have to mop it up

You do know that some of those cake places are more than happy to *send you samples* to help you decide don't you?
http://www.uglydress.com/index.html Always good for a laugh.

Ugly dresses - great site. Thank you Kelli. As is CakeWrecks - my 23rd cake site.
Thanks for the warm good wishes Santra. The cheers of those who know us both mean a lot to me.

Vows.
Eeep.
I want "with my body I thee worship" and he wants me to be "bonny and buxom at board and in bed" but we don't want a religious service. In fact, the celebrant is a Humanist and may explicitly preclude us from any religious wording at all.
The only other one we could think of was "I promise never to hurt you except consensually and with a previously negotiated safe word", but it lacks the iambic power of the 16thC liturgy. Say what you like about Cramner, he and his pals could string a sentence.
We're throwing single words around at the moment, and using wedding vow sites as emetics.

Do you not find writing your own vows to be dreadfully trite and largely hypocritical?
I would always recommend that the presiding official uses the words of his/her choice. It makes everyone feel more comfortable.

"Do you, Free Waterfall, Jr. take Rainbow Starchild Ferguson to be your lovin' main squeeze for as long as the grass grows and the wind blows, promising to never harsh her buzz or try to mandate your ego trip on her as long as you both think it's groovy?"

Notes down Count Zero's suggestion.
>> Do you not find writing your own vows to be dreadfully trite and largely hypocritical?
What, like marriage you mean?
Writing one's own vows? Trite yes, hypocritical no. That's the point.
What does amaze me about what's out there is how much of it was written by people with a tin ear for language and no sense of rhythm. Unlike Count Zero's splendid suggestion.
