yep marriage does seem to be for the lawyers and the judeo-christian based legal system, which i often think exists so that the powerful can impose their morals on the rest of us - or at least impose morals that ensure their power, while doing what ever they like, regardless of laws or morals.
sorry that was a bit left-wing ranty. will behave now.
my sister always swore she'd never get married - but she caved in about three years ago in her early thirties - i reckon if you're going to get married leave it late - early only leads to trouble. but then i suppose it's up to what you consider early - some kids i went to school with are married now, or engaged, and i just find that scary.

Why do you concider getting married as "caving in".
Surly if she is happy, then this is alright is it not?

Helena, I'm indeed a russ this year. I'm even the russ mascot at my school!
(For those who don't know about russ: it's like prom night, expect everybody
wear red or blue or other colored overalls and it's more like stag night than
prom night btw.... and this is for over 1/2 year!)

What, as in "Excuse me young lady, do you mind if I check your pipe?"

It is definately the best fun to be had with your clothes on, even if they are overalls and a rather sexy hat ( I had kiss me quick written on mine, and by god It worked!) But as for marriage, I would like to still believe in it as an institution, and think spanner girl was very right in what she said about the laywers. maybe we should all revolt, and return to pagan handfasting rites, and leave it at that! I would also like to point out that I would in fact make a perfect wife, and any propsals can be sent to [email protected]
Thanks

I'm sure you'll get plenty of proposals, but I'm not sure
how many of them will be for your hand in marraige!

The light at the end of the tunnel has been turned off until further notice.
The light at the end of the tunnel is usually an oncoming freight train.

okay, this is my question: What's the deal with being romantic? There are girls who sigh and blush when a male character in a book or movie does something unbelievably sweet for a girl: writes her a song, writes her a poem, comes to her house randomly one night with flowers, etc. However, it's often the same girls who, when approaced in this manner by myself or my friends, is often -- ??? -- repulsed. Or at the very least not impressed! I write a song for one I've known a couple of years and can talk to easily, I sing it for her, I write her letters when I'm out of town that summer. I get back from vacation and she's "not ready for a relationship", and now she hardly talks to me because she's uncomfortable around me. I try to be sweet and romantic with a girl who DID go out with me, but the more attention I gave her, the less she gave me. My friend (we'll call him "Romeo" for lack of a better name) writes poems for girls who just seem to think he's crazy. My other friend (I'll say "Cyrano", even if it doesn't fit) writes a song and sings it for a girl he likes -- out in front of everybody, and she completely rejects him! So do girls want romantic artists, or do they want shallow, smelly jocks? HELP!

I think a lot of REAL LIFE girls (not those in MOVIES) is seriously
affected and brainwashed by all those make-up and shampoo commercials.
Consequentally, girls have low self esteem and find it hard to believe
someone wants to be nice to them for a "good" reason.

Could be... it's just so hard to deal with they're swooning when you know that's not what they'd react to if a real male did that to them!

Bascially guys, you are reading the situation wrong. Those women do want romance but not from you and it can be very uncomfortable getting that kind of unwanted attention. Just like Men say that all they want is certain things (big boobs, blonde hair and long legs) when in fact they really want something completely different, so do women. We tend to say that all we want is someone to be romantic, have a good sense of humour and be faithful. When we get those things we realise that we also want something else - to be in love with the person!

I agree totally with Ginger, when you find the right girl, you can be romantic all you want and she'll love you all the more for it!
Oh and the Light at the end of the tunnel here has not yet recieved any proposals. Damn

I propose you change your tactics then..certain people round here
get more proposals than they know what to do with!
Maybe the females should get together for a masterclass?
