Hi I have started this new forum as the other two are filled and take so long to upload. I will be posting a new page caled 'Have You Been here' which shows all the listings and rantings from the other two forums - all previous hints and tips will be there and easier to read and upload.
MadMunk will be madder, (good word that) he likes to be first but as he is away , WHO WILL BE FIRST ON THIS NEW FORUM?

You mean I get to be first!?!? That,s not normal! I'm usually left dragging up the rear.
Oh well, I suppose even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.

Hey Vegiman, I get to be second! Sorry I didn't participate in the Fun Run, I haven't been able to get off the couch! Looks like you did a fabulous job, however.

Just to say thanks for the tips on loading up the 'who's on' page. I cut and pasted and it works a treat. Thanks.

Hi Frink and Austin Morris
You still have a chance to have a go and get off that couch. It still has a few more days to run and thanks for the compliment. I would have liked to see h2g2 take a small part by advertising it on the front page, but as we had a sub editor on tow, I can't complain.
You are welcome Austin Morris, fell free to copy anything from my page, it makes h2g2 a more friendly place when everyone shares their knowledge. I will pop over to your page and have a see.

Tree tomatoes have just come into season in New Zealand Vegiman.
Have you had many dealings with them?
Tree tomatoes
Lonnytunes - Winter Is Here Posted Aug 15, 1999
I believe it originated in South America. It is an arborescent shrub having pale pink blossoms followed by egg-shaped reddish-brown edible fruit somewhat resembling a tomato in flavor.
Stewed they go wonderfully with vanilla ice-cream.
Vegiman you may know it as a tamarillo but I prefer tree tomato.

Ah yes, I believe it is also called the Java Plum. Thick skins to be removed first.
Sorry to hear about your plight. Its sounds as if subconsciously you wanted to leave the job. You certainly sound happy about it, not the way it happenned, just that it did happen.

Thanks Vegiman. Yes you hit the nail on the head. I could have brown-nosed and got a job but that would have meant someone else, younger, young family, mortgage, would have missed out.
Most of my friends took voluntary redundancy when it was 1st offered. I probably should have too.
What are you like on Chinese Gooseberries?

Hi looney
Whoes trying to push the national fruit of NZ
BTW do NZ's call themselves Kiwi's or is it just us foreigners that do it, like we never call ourselves limey's, or as the ausies say winging limey's.
If there is to be a quiz on fruit, here is another gooseberry, see if you tell me where it is from: PHYSALIS. No T-Shirt for the correct answer.
Hi Haniski Swiv
Nice to see you back in this old or should I say new forum. I might just start a fruit & veg quiz later, when the fun run is as smooth running as I hope it will be in the future.
all the best two you both.

I don't connect for a day, and already this new forum is filling up!
I didn't pick up on Maid Marion's 'if you will have me' because I thought it was uncouth. I do have manners, you know.
Hey vegiman, try these: haws, damsons, mast, and, uhhh... that's it? What are they, eh?

Hi vegi! Hi everybody! You may have noticed an absence which was me (and is not unusual), for I journeyed with the mob to Cornwall to spot the rare Eclipse ('99).
Damn the weather! It was cloudy, but there were 2 breaks in the cloud. I took some photos but I have a sneaking suspicion that I had the shutter closed.
Vegi- I need you to contact me via my page because I have an idea and I don't know whether anyone else has had the same idea and if they haven't I don't want anyone copying me because it is a rare moment when I use my brain to find inspiration. Thanx.

I see you picked up on the Maid Marion sign off Elk. Glad sense prevails.
I have never seen Haws let alond sold them, all I know is they are the fruit of the hawthorn and thats it
Damsoms - Well the trees all around our pack house are full of them at this time. I hate picking them, They take an age.
Mast - Have you really eaten these. They are used more for feeding pigs - no offense.
OK HLPG I will pop over now.
BTW EVERYBODY I am at it again at

Discovered the plum-like damsons for the first time today. They are delicious. They're actually modified sloes, but you probably knew that. As for mast - I've never eaten it, I was just checking.
Bye.
