Vegiman Kiwis love being called kiwis. We don't call Poms limeys, that's an Americism. Pom is often a term of friendship downunder as in the phrase 'bloody good Pommie bastard"
Physalis, ah my favourite ground cherries, almost as nice as feijoas.

Feijoas - dark-green, kiwi-sized, tropical fruit with white flesh. You may know them as pineapple quava Vegiman.
In NZ they grow prolificly and school children have a lot of fun raiding people's trees on the way to/from school. Alas the discarded skins tend to make quite a mess and there don't seem to be as many trees about as when I was young. At least in front gardens.

A bit of scrumping LT? Tsk tsk.
What about Greengages, vegiman. They're quite common, aparently, but I don't have a clue what they are, and have never seen any.
Elderberries are underated too.

Greengages are plumlike - only they are green.
Looney, do they call it scrumping down under. kids raiding orchards, many return with the yarn of being chased by the farmer.
I am closing this thread about fruit & veg - Too much like work. I don't mind answering the occasional query but any newbie visiting the forum will is likely to leave with a yawn.
I wrote a page when I was a newbie called fruit & Veg UK. It recently got rejected. Maybe I will revive it for anyone interested.
I am off to the DEFINE h2g2 forum now, back soon - BFN

Hi there Vegiman and gang! A virtual party sounds like a good idea Saffire. It would be a great BAB party, anybody not bringing a bottle wouldn't get in, and if they did, they woudln't have anything to drink!

Hi Saffire and Borin Olnaim
Oh! how dare you start a party without me.
I was talking to vegiwoman earlier and we have decided to give up smoking. I think I will start an h2g2 Quit Party and invite all who want to, to join in. I think I will go off and start writing the page now.

OK - point taken about veg and stuff.
I offer chips and homemade garlic mayo to the party. It seems about time to go hunting for a chippy, so I'll save you the bother.
