Hello there Vegiman. I haven't been on H2G2 as much lately but I'm hoping to be back with a vengeance soon, hopefully finishing the US map search this weekend. I have noticed that the clock on your page does not seem to work in my browser (Internet Explorer 4) and just gives a blank text box.

Hi everybody - sorry I have not had time to read all the postings yet - Taking vegilady out for the day etc. I did see a newbie every one seemed to ignore when you were trying to get the image right - Hi there GraveyMan - They're not always like this please come back whenever you like.

Hey MadMunk and StevenR - glad you popped back in - The clock seems to work ok for me on E5. try moving it away for other html code. sometimes these xml pages interfere with (close by) java programs.

Thanks vegiman - I was wondering if my postings became invisible. I use netscape and I will try the clock on my page later and let you know if it works. GM

I've just received a rejection email for my "Map Search - United Kingdom" page. When I read the first part I was disappointed, but there was something at the bottom that made it all clear. It said:

"Hey, nice little idea... but we're going to do this ourselves later and tie it in with longitude and latitude. In the meantime, what a cool page!

Yours,

Mark Moxon.
Editor, h2g2"

This sounds like it could be really good.

I havn't been here for a while (I died) and thought I'd pop in.

If you look at my page you will see that it's very boringly free of pictures. Would it be possible to, uh, borrow someone's web space to put some on? Cheers whatever.

Don't pictures on the web have to be .gif or .jpg?

There are pics & images spread throughout the web you can use

Andyart.com
Xoom.com
LinkExpress.com

There just three there are many more on offer - Anyone can can have webspace
Netscape is offering free space and comunicator 4.5 abosolutely free.
Free space providers:

The easiest to set up I found to be:
http://www.fortunecity.com
My own page there:
http://www.fortunecity.com/business/notebook/264/
Not done much there yet.

If you want a special pic to show on your page and you don't want the bother of having your own page Then contact MadMunk or Shazz one of these will be only to pleased to help you out.

Sorry StevenR nearly missed your post.

Yeh - a nice way to say we are going to pinch your idea and improve on it. They have know about your page for some time. If it takes as long as some of the other ideas they have lined up - your will be the the only one for some time.
BTW I tried some of your USA map. This was great. don't let them put you off finnish the USA map - I can't see theirs being done for ages.

MadMunk?¿

Elk: I would offer some of my space, but i think i've used it all up, or something, coz everytime i upload a pic, it doesn't work smiley - sadface
As soon as i get some more, or sort out what's wrong with my current one, i'll be glad to lend you some space (as long as you don't want mamba huge multi-megabyte pics....)

Maybe they caught you out - Some sites specify they are not to be used just as storage for another site. and blocked any further images. If trouble persists, some sites offer up to 20mg. Try one of those I mentioned to Elk in the previous posting.

Cheers for the offers. I was hoping to draw something myself (I'm modestly quite good at computer graphics). What about the jpg gif thing?

Hi Elk It does not really matter. The net supports most formats although from what I see the main ones are:
TIF - BMP - GIF - IPG.

GIF seems to be the standard for line drawings - IPG for photos - I have not seen IMG files, that does not mean there are not any floating around.
