Birthday breakfast
Galaxy Babe - eclectic editor Posted Aug 8, 2011
Hello Maestro
I hope you're enjoying the Proms (daft question of the day?)
You might be interested to know that Andrew is thinking of moving out - into a bedsit, although my toes curled at the addresses he showed me which are in the poorest parts of Gy and I am freaking out at the thought.
So today I'm taking him to the Job Centre to let them do a projection of what he'd have to live on (and also myself when I lose his benefits) if he's happy to go ahead I won't stop him, but it'll be life-changing for me as I can't afford to run this place with only my IB. Gordon may find himself with a lodger but I can't take Goldie there. He's also just signed up for 3 students they will all be moved in by the end of the month. It's hard enough to park near his house as it is! and there'll be no more M&S special meals for two on a Saturday night for quite some time
Went to a party on Saturday afternoon, my sister's mother-in-law turned 75 last week. Y had ordered her a of her life online, click & drag photos, plus add your text. The was lovely but as I was reading it, I couldn't help but notice the spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. Sometimes I wish I wasn't such a pedant
Hope all is well with you

Seems that quite a number of my aquaintances are at life-changing moments right now. Of yours, on the one hand it would do Andrew a lot of good to be more independent of you, but at the same time I understand your concerns. However the financial impact on you if Andrew did move out is quite a concern.
Proms - there have been some delights and a few turkeys so far this year (halfway already). Delights: last night's Mahler 'Das klagende Lied' - first time I've seen it in live performance, the Verdi 'Requiem' and Havergal Brian's 'Gothic Symphony'. Turkeys: Roger Norrington's Mahler 9 - idiosyncratic to say the least - and Tasmin Little's lethargic rendition of the Elgar violin concerto.

Hiya Maestro (time for a ?)
Almost lost track here but I put on my Curator's hat just now and thought I'd stop by for a and not to mention a welcome
Did I mention my Mum lost her best friend earlier in the year, Edie, her hubby Joe was a Normandy Vet same as my Dad, well he just slipped away so there'll be another full-military honours funeral next Tue. I'll be taking Mum so I'll miss the Home visit we go to with Snoopy on a Tue afternoon, oh joy. It is full of people with varying degrees of dementia and it's not very pleasant
Yesterday we spent with our Blue Cross hats on, visiting an out-of-school club giving our talk (Gordon does the talking, I work the prop and hand out stickers and booklets to the children afterwards) and then in the afternoon we went to the Blue Cross animal hospital in Gy, to meet the new Area Volunteer Co-ordinator for this area (the north). An hour's appointment turned into 3 hours with our local co-ordinator popping out every 20 mins or so to check on a puppy which had been strangled almost to death
At least and cream cakes were provided
All in a spin

I think someone is playing with time. I was looking forward to this month as I get a break from Lunch Club, Scouts and Explorers. Time available to get some writing done I thought. Fat chance! I just seem to be caught in a maelstrom of activities. I'm due to pick by day and so far (6pm) I haven't had a moment to spare. Today has been taken up with installing Dad's new television - he can now watch football etc in HD.
Who's messing about with the clock?

h5ringer Posted Sep 30, 2011
So this is our last weekend with Auntie Beeb Well I'm glad to say that the new Editorial and Technical Teams seem well up to the coming task.
There is an anticipated gap between the end of the old and the go-live of the new site of about 6-8 hours so I'm not expecting to be able to login to noohootoo much before late afternoon or early evening; handy as I shall be out most of Monday at the Lunch Club.
A quick final outing then for our regular smilies in case they get lost en route:

You and me both with the "where does the time go" Mum's INR went through the roof after her course of antibiotics last weekso now they have requested her back (this Wed) and next Wed, which clashed with her 'flu jab so they have moved that to Thurs morn, all extra errands to run for me but
It's her birthday tomorrow she is 92.
My #2 daughter is coming for the weekend but she will be visiting me & Mum on Sunday then having tea with Gordon & me before she heads back to Manchester.
I have been and posted on your page but haven't tried to find my way around yet. Two smileys I tried elsewhere didn't work
I'll see you over the other side...

Joined the sub-editors this week and completed my first two Entries
I was interested to see that a comment in a post of mine to the Writing Guidelines thread has now become part of the official policy. Wonder if there's a badge for that?
The Christmas treadmill seems to have moved up a gear this morning. Don't know whether I'm or

I agree, the new smileys are but I've now been advised some are by other h2g2
Have you seen I suppose that's a bookmark for subbies to remind them of things yet to do? I do use a lot, but I'll find orib a little difficult to type
Welcome to the ranks of the by the way, how on do you find time, I've not had any spare since the launch of the new site, what with running round after Mum & Andrew (and ) aside from the new life outside my own home, volunteering for 2 charities and such.
Luckily I am on top of the thing, good job too, I had a list as long as my arm
I just watched the Russell Watson interview with Fern, amazing life he's had...describing his near-death experience gave me goosebumps! And he did spot-on impersonations of Cliff Richard and Paul O'Grady (as Lily Savage) - he said Cliff had suggested a name-change to him (Watson Rousseau) and Russell agreed (to be nice) and the next time he saw Cliff, he was greeted with "Hello Watson!" Gordon's last name is Watson so that nugget'll him.
We went to a fundraiser last night for the Pink Rose Fund organised by Annie, who is Gordon's cleaner. It was at the Marina Bar on Grimsby Docks, I had no idea there was any kind of nightlife on the Docks well it was packed out!standing room only, and there was a group on "Blues Boy Kings" who were very good but very loudI am afraid I have become converted to choirs As we were sat with the organiser, who was selling raffle tickets, we got the job of separating and folding the copies which kept rigormortis from setting init was brass monkeys in there! the good news was that they took £600 on the door and over £600 on the raffle.
