Oh well done for putting a smiley - rocket under them. More people need to do it as care homes and domiciliary care is abysmal in some places. It is clear your mother registers everything when spoken to strongly, and she clearly knows what a cracking daughter she has got but like my late husband couldn't find the words.

Treasure those words, you deserve them.

We are having problems in the family which might involve care soon and I am learning so much from other people which will hopefully be useful at some stage. I think if I get to that stage I will go walkabout off a cliff smiley - rofl

As for your daughter's driving, did my son's careful driving bug you, or were you ok as it was a short journey. I must admit since he had his new car we have been flying smiley - biggrin with a *WooHoo* along the way smiley - smiley

Hope you get a break and your Mum gets better care in future. They must dread your next visit. I trust you do not forewarn them?

smiley - cheers

WS, your sons driving was no problem to me,as mad as i am, driving too fast on a country lane in the pouring rain is a definite NO!
After a week of worrying about my mother,a decision has finally been made. She has been put on Amber Care, but at the red end of it. This means she is coming to the end of her life. No more pulling her about and sticking drips into her. We have decided to send her back to the nursing home where she will die in peace. The nursing home have agreed to accept her back and understand that no more ambulances are to be called, they are just going to let her be, also, she will be treated with the respect she deserves. Sadly, she can't be moved until Monday, paperwork red tape, blah de blah, so i will go to Worthing on Tuesday and maybe stop a while.
It has been baking hot here today and i had to go on a course about diabetes and nutrition, luckily it finished at 3pm. so i was able to get home and sit in my deckchair with a bucket of cold cider and a straw smiley - laughsmiley - cheers

Sipping cider through a straw! How lovely smiley - smiley

It is sad about your Mum but I think it is kinder to do that than to keep trying to keep someone alive who is clearly not up to it.

I have never heard of Amber Care, only the Liverpool Pathway which sounds horrible but it sounds as if they have got it right. In spite of your history together it will be a wrench, but a relief too I suspect. I hope it doesn't drag on too long.

Take care, enjoy the sunshine while you can, it looks like being here for a while.

Thanks for your thoughts WS & lovely son. smiley - biggrin I had an awful weekend heat wise. Bournemouth hit the top of the hit parade as regards to temperature in the UK,but it was worse than that in the kitchen at work,at one point i thought i waS going to faint, but, as i don't do fainting,i left it to the younger generation to do that...and they did smiley - laugh i may laugh, but it was no help if your KP is in a heap on the floor. I gave him a swift kick up the rear and told him to drink more water and get on with it,he could only fall over if i did,and i almost did.
I am very down at the moment about my mother,Sarah asked me to call round her place today,i think this was an effort on her part to take my mind off things. She said Harry had something to show me smiley - erm. The fact is, Harry has discovered the "Top of the World" He was so excited when i got there,he could not wait to drag my already exhausted body to the top of the hill by his home, this is apprently the "Top of the World" and as i gazed in awe over the views of Poole Harbour,he turned his back on that and said " Look nana, you can see Tes*oes from here and that is three miles away" smiley - sigh
I am off to Worthing tomorrow, probably to say my final farewells to my mother, she has not drank or eaten since Friday,of course, the wretched pacemaker kicks in every time her heart stops,so she will eventually die of kidney falure in the next couple of days, she is no longer consious. My sister and i are going to a tatoo parlour tomorrow,we will have tatooed on our chests, NO PACEMAKER. DNR!
I have put a couple of pics up of the dragonflies at Canford Heath and Harrys idea of the top of the world smiley - laugh

Oh, Sue, I know only too well how it feels to be in that position but I really don't see what else anyone can do, can you. The generation above us has an amazing ability to hang in there to the bitter end but I suppose after surviving two world wars they would.

I have someone who may be in the same position as your Mother, or may recover when the shock of being in hospital kicks in, but I have my doubts. I am jumping every time the phone rings at the moment, and a foreign cold caller got short shrift today smiley - grr

We will be thinking of you, and in the kindest possible way hope it is all over soon and peacefully. The waiting is hell.

Lovely photos. He is cute smiley - smiley I bet the beaches were packed yesterday, so glad it wasn't his hot for our holiday, it is too much.

Your kitchen at the home should have AirCon or fans at least. I have fans going all over the house.

Took my friend back to Bristol on Friday and during the night (as you do) went on a wander. Suddenly surrounded by the urban fox population who loved the baguette I was munching at stupid o'clock. Unfortunately, the bloody camera would not capture anything, even with flash and Jan did not have an outside light smiley - grr

Isn't it typical how a camera doesn't work when you really need it?

Take care in this heat

We spoke yesterday! She has the builders in at the moment; and currently has 'stuff' all over the place, including the covering of her computer. She did say that she would try to get back on-line as soon as she could fight her way over to it.smiley - evilgrinsmiley - whistlesmiley - run

Thanks Scorp, glad she has something to occupy her other than the usual stuff. I am in limbo at the moment till my guy is free to come and do some more, but it isn't bothering me as the heat is too much for me anyway.

If it gets cooler I will get stuck in smiley - smiley

Hope you are smiley - ok

Hi to you both. I have now surfaced from under the pile of rubble that was my flat. Firstly i would like to thank you both for your support in the difficult time i have been having, your email and phone calls have been a great help.smiley - hug to you both.
I have now got some sense of normality in the flat and can actually move around without falling over stuff. The trouble is,now it is so tidy,i can't find anything anymore, still,i know i have put things away somewhere safe smiley - ermsmiley - snork
The young fox that has been appearing in the garden has got far too bold,he actually comes into the flat if i leave the door open, which i have been doing in this hot and humid weather.I do feed him,but if i am late on parade he lets me know in no uncertain terms by either coming in or if the door is shut, yapping loudly on the doorstep. Like you Scorp,i find it nigh on impossible to get good pictures in low light and that is the time he calls, smiley - sadface
As it is the school holidays i will be dragged about from pillar to post by the grandchildren. Harry, in particular,is a real nature lover. He sends me pictures on the phone of butterflies he spots in the garden and i have to tell him what "make" it is,smiley - biggrin
If it is not raining tomorrow,we are going on the noddy train to the end of Hengistbury Head, then a quick boat ride across to Mudeford, for some lunch and crabbing. So it will be Herons,Egrets, shorebirds, crabs and if you remember Scorp, a vast amount of Starlings nicking our lunch. smiley - biggrinsmiley - cheers

Oh, Bluesue, I am so glad to see you back, I have been thinking about you a lot but guessed you were busy.

Being dragged around by your grandchildren will be a real antidote to previous events I am sure. I am going to have my granddaughter for a day soon so if anyone has any energy boosting remedies please let me know. She is a bundle of bossy energy so I shall need all the patience I can muster.

Part of my kitchen has been ripped out well in advance of any work being done so I could have my dishwasher working so I too have stuff in all the wrong places, boxed up, four boxes high, so I am getting plenty of exercise shifting stuff. Not sorry the work wasn't progressing in the heat because it drains me.

I saw something in the paper that worried me, about this fracking lark. There was a map with Kimmeridge on it right in the line of fire for their plans. Would it be your Kimmeridge or is there another one further along the coast to the East?

Enjoy your wildlife and grandchildren.

*Waves* to Scorp, glad the trio is back together smiley - biggrin

WS, thanks for the email about Kimmeridge. It is the same place you visited. I am doubtful about any fracking fracking smiley - winkeye as the whole area is already dotted with oil wells. There has been an oil farm in Kimmeridge since 1959. There are wells at Wyke Farm, Arne,Furzy Island and Wareham. There is also a direct pipeline taking the oil to Southampton. I would imagine,if they fracked about too much there,we will all be covered in it!
We called off the trip to Hengistbury Head, when we got there,it was too crowded smiley - grr so we went up in the hot air balloon instead. I put some pictures on flickr, you get a fantastic view of the town and surround.
I have to work all weekend,i am not sorry,Bournemouth is packed to the gunnels, the garden is a more peaceful place smiley - biggrin
I do hope you get straight soon,i know what it is like trying to work round builders smiley - sigh
Waves to Scorp smiley - biggrin Not too long before we meet in Wales, can't wait smiley - cheers

Oh, well!! e shall have to wait and see. I do feel that fracking is dodgy in an area where the geology suggests it is very fragile. I have always been worried about extraction of anything when we don't put anything back, as something has to give eventually.

I suppose Bournemouth and the other lovely places are enjoying a last fling before the weather changes.

Don't work too hard,

Life here is lollopalling along ok; although the weather could be better for my tomatoes. We are going to Warwick castle on 23rd and staying overnight. That should be fun. Will try to get some pics of the jousting!

Also looking forward to Wales bluesue. SS and I are booked into the (somewhere or other I've forgotten the name of just for the minute) oh yes! The Boar's Head in Carmarthen. Did rather well there. B*****g.com offered a double room with breakfast for £65.00; but didn't say whether or not it had a lift. They didn't provide a phone number before booking either. So I googled it, rang them up and got booked in directly with the hotel for £55.00 You would do well to remember that little ploy for another time bluesue.smiley - cheers

Have a good week-end bothsmiley - hug

Scorp, if you fancy a detour on the way back from Warwick I could put the kettle on smiley - biggrin Don't know what state the kitchen will be in but I am past caring.

Let me know if you fancy deviating off the motorway as it is weekend. It would be so nice to see you again.
