Binoculars
Posted May 14, 2004
My old 20X50 binnies are showing their age. There's a slight cast beginning to show in one of the object lenses and there's also a definite double image.
So, I spent a happy hour or so at my favourite optical suppliers the other day and brought home a new pair of 70X16 binnies for night use. I hope that they're going to be useful for some of the dimmer night objects, but I haven't really been able to try them out yet as it's been cloudy every night since.

Near Full Moon
Posted Mar 6, 2004
Tried out my latest eyepiece in the newt last night. It's a 1.25 inch 15mm Plossl which gives a neat X60 magnification. The moon just about fills the field of view and the clarity is terrific compared with the original older type .965 eyepieces that originally came with the scope. The other eyepiece I have is a 6mm Plossl giving X150. I've been really enjoying the magnificent view down the lunar terminator this last week. Superb

Return to the Moon
Posted Jan 10, 2004
President Bush is to announce that the US is to resume space exploration with manned missions to the Moon as a precursor for manned landings on Mars. It will take 'decades' to bring to a reality.
Could this be the beginning of a new and exciting 'space age'. Or just another promise made in election year.
The prospect of the space adventure resumed is fascinating.

The Apollo Missions
Posted Dec 1, 2003
1 December 2003
'The Apollo Missions' was accepted as a University entry on 1 December 2003. Writing the entry took almost as long as the United States took to get to the Moon. But hey! I wasn't up against a Presidential deadline...
A big thanks is due to John the Gardener and Jimi X who subbed the entries between them and put up with my bumbling attempt at authorship. Also to Jimster who pulled the whole thing together. Thanks guys, it's appreciated.

Trash
Posted Jul 12, 2003
Way back when, someone (I don't remenber who) posted a note that H2 was 'trite rubbish'. I thought then, that was just a 'flamer', but after reading some of the postings that have been made during the last few months I'm beginning to think that maybe, just maybe. he/she was right.
Somehow, for me at least, this site doesn't any longer seem to encapsulate the ideal that DNA espoused. I can't place the reason why, but I'm beginning to think that H2 has lost its way. It's just my opinion, I think that maybe it's time for me to go.
A.M,
