My brother is more addicted to the newest technology than I am.

He thinks I'm a Luddite.

His wife teases him about whether he should start a museum of gadgets that were bought when thy were the latest thing, then never used after something newer came out.

So far, so good here.
Just staying put as it were. I am now the beneficiary of online call technology via Zoom. My psychiatrist used it last Friday, youngish chap, but I'm still thinking he'll be as good as my other post-graduate doctors. I've been quite happy to have gotten good care from the facility.

Oh, why Zoom?? Most of the clinical operations at the hospital are shut due to COVID19.

My family uses ZOOM for get-togethers.

years ago, I did have a webcam but after most of my stuff went into storage for a "modernisation" of my home, some ** etc nicked a cardboard box from the removal team bringing my stuff back - webcam was in that box (apart from other items ) never bothered about getting one since

That's sad, but I never had one to begin with.

when I had one, the "microsoft" set up gave a 2ins square video of the person you were "talking" to - now it's full screen (various formats/companies/programs etc)
or multiple screens via something called "zoom" ?

Actually, I misunderstood what you meant by camera. My brother sent me a camera so I could participate in ZOOM get-togethers by the family.

I don't know how he sets them up, I just know that they work.

My family lives hundreds of miles apart.

I've also used my camera for doxy.me videoconferencing. My therapist insisted that I use it for three weeks. During that time, he was able to see how cluttered my house was (I lost my privacy! ). Clutter, as w know, can be a fire hazard, and has been recently classified as a form of mental illness.

So guess who has had to do a lot of work at decluttering? Me!

I'd best see to my quarters as well then. I've a lot of things that should be put out. Problem is I've got old paperwork with I.D. theft potential lying about.


Getting that sorted, and a much-needed dusting is what I've needed to do for ages.

I get conflicted when I bring boxes of my precious china to a drop-off center for charity. I do realize that my house was getting more and more crowded.

The clinician who is talking me through some anxiety issues says that having too much stuff can create a fire hazard. Well, I've donated about a third of my china to charity, freeing up 18 square feet of floor space in my bedroom. I proceeded to put my laundry drying racks against the back wall of the bedroom, where they will not impede egress form the room. They had been in the living room.

To some extent, this is a trip down memory lane for me. I'm discovering some things I had forgotten I had. I had a lot of Christmas china in my bedroom. Stylistically, it has aged poorly. I find that I don't like it as well as I thought I would, so it's been easy to get rid of.

I bring about ten boxes of china to the charity drop-off center each week.

I'm also trying to fill two garbage bags with trash each day.

I tend to go overboard. so restraint is needed.

Some stuff is not even worth giving away. I put it in the dumpster.

I'm sort of reviewing my life as I go about this. It seems pleasant enough.

After he kicked the bucket - My dad's outhouse needed 2 "skips" to remove what he'd accumulated over the years.. 90% of no use

I doubt that your father deliberately tried to hang onto any of that.

Don't bet on it! We found an exhaust system for a Renault dolphin car we had in the 1960's early 70's

My dad, once stopped talking with me for 3 days
because I threw away my cheap travel clock/alarm in the dustbin(trash-can)
The winder handle had broken off where the screw thread wasand therefore useless (it only cost me £2 to buy umpteen years earlier)
BUT! He said - put it in the outhouse and I'll look at it later -IT was UNREPAIRABLE
