R.I.P.

Maybe it's the singer
Maybe it's the song
Amy you are a winner
Your melody is strong

Maybe no one
Will ever replace you
Even when you are long gone
We'll all remember you

Sure folks will sing
Your songs for many a year
They might even bring
Us close to a tear

Yet we have had the real thing
Born and raised in our back yard
Who wrote songs with tears that sting
From an experience,all too hard.

As September brings a cooler breeze
Autumn's busy blushing up the trees
Misty mornings dank and grey
Are now the flavour of the day
Chestnuts are now burst across the ground
Many lay empty and scattered all around
Children throwing sticks at their clumps
While a hit brings them down in lumps
Grumpy old faces tut and leer
As young cheeky ruffians strut and cheer
I wish I was amongst them and I smile
but...scrumping apples was more my style.smiley - winkeye

I don't know about chestnuts, Rikii, but I can't remember ever seeing so many acorns. Maybe some great oaks will grow.

~The last ride?

In dreams Im like a stallion
Leaping through the air
Scaling the highest fence
Without a worldly care
My old heart is pounding
Im with sensation and sweat
Yet I lie within four walls
I haven't escaped yet
A carer comes and tucks me in
I feel her hand upon my brow
I can no longer open my eyes
Come stallion,take me now!

There's a door to my heart
That I can never close
A smile not off my mind
You were the one I chose
There's a picture of you
I still see everyday
Inside of my head
It will not go away
There's a space in my life
No other can ever fill
It remains vacant
and...always.... will....

I guess it comes to all of us
A little absence of the mind
When we've climbed the stairs at home
and ..forgot what we're supposed to find
Walking around the supermarket
Through a layer of scotch mist
Forgetting half of what you're supposed to buy
On your forgotten shopping list
Dashing off to the post office
Suddenly becomes a sad affair
When you're three quarters of the way
and...you've left your purse upon the chair
Your brain will never ever
Help you save your legs
When dashing out with the washing
Yet you dont have any pegs
Soon you'll get the other way
and...believe me it's no fun
Forgetting about forgetting
In Marks and Spencer's with your zip undone.smiley - sadface

Who knows how many times more
We'll get to see the morning sun
Or how many breaths we've left
Until there is none
How many starry nights
How many more lost friends
Or will I be the one
Time no longer befriends
How many more times
Can I hold you in sheer bliss
Will I remember
Which is your last kiss
How can someone so intrepid
Accquire the notion of fear
That if you ever leave this world
There'll be only emptiness here.

Old love's no sapling
It's an oak withered with bark
There may no longer be a cherry
But...there's still room for a lark

Old love can only get better
As it matures with time
It substitutes the tissue
For a tall gin and lime

Old love knows patience
It lasts longer than a night
It knows a partners morning face
and...wont scream in fright

Old love is so much sweeter
As fresh as each new rose
It cannot take for granted
As thorns,it does suppose.smiley - rose

You're such an old romantic, Rikii - but I fear Rupert Brooke was nearer the mark:-

“Oh love is fair, and love is rare;” my dear one she said,
“But love goes lightly over.” I bowed her foolish head,
And kissed her hair and laughed at her. Such a child was she;
So new to love, so true to love, and she spoke so bitterly.

But there’s wisdom in women, of more than they have known,
And thoughts go blowing through them, are wiser than their own,
Or how should my dear one, being ignorant and young,
Have cried on love so bitterly, with so true a tongue?

A surprising win for England, especially as they looked second best to me. Still, they defended well and nicked a goal, which is what counts.

You write some good stuff, Rikii, but my advice would be to leave out the punctuation: it's not your forte and dispensing with it is an acceptable poetic convention. Apart from that, keep up the good work.

Love is the master
We humans are puppets at it's school
Although we learn the lesson many times
Often we end up as a fool

Love is love to all of us
But in a different way
For some it represents everything
For another it's what they give away

Love can turn to hatred
A weapon to manipulate the soul
For where once was a palable sense
There's a larger papable hole

Yet...loves as sweet as honey
We are but bees who must pollenate
We all roll in it's precious nectar
To soon we must ejaculate.smiley - magic

Hi tickle, and thank you,I was so far up my own arse I never even noticed your most welcome comment, until I'd blarted out my latest effort.I know what you mean as I think I've previously mentioned, grammar and me never went to school together,as I finished my basic education (in an approved school by the way) we were never given what you might call a formal education we sort of learnt parrot fashion and got whacked for our mistakes. But on reflection I suppose our world and the world we all make for ourselves all comes down to fate.As I think I once mentioned concentration is my biggest enemy and my span seems to be eroding why? maybe a constant alcoholic battering or the fact that a bucket is always empty and cant be added to.Still I do like writing something as I have never had a job that employed my head in anything other than menial tasks, which I can see disadvatages me when anything to do with real grammar comes out. It's a bit like the emporers clothes I suppose, inasmuch as I can see, this suit looks good on mesmiley - biggrinsmiley - ok

I suppose a spell-checker would help as well, Rikii, although it wouldn't pick up all the mistakes. "To be or not to be" may be the question, but Nietzsche said "Some die too soon, but most die too late".

I know Im not irreplaceable
You can change me anytime
But my love is not untraceable
Im no victim there is no crime
You'll always win with love
Nothing else can hold your sway
It's teachings are not from above
Sometimes wickedness has it's way
When you win with love you gain
When you lose you'll need to cry
Thinking nothing can ease your pain
Still... you'll give it another try
Love as always will leave it's mark
Even when you been deserted and all alone
There'll still be some flickering spark
Because none of us are made of stone.

I look at the lips
I want to kiss
and wish
You knew my name
I see your face
I want to trace
My fingers around the line
That's your smile
Yet in my heart I know
That I will never show
Or touch the glow
That is you
Every plan or scheme
I have I dream
Will never ever seem
Real without you
So until I say hello
You'll never know
As I'll never show
My love is you.

We always knew this day would come
For one of us
The day we'd be standing here
Reading this
You were loving until your last breath
Why I was chosen to be still here
We will never know
You were my pillar my post
The one I always loved the most
We stood Together always
When many would of had us stand apart
We stood the test of time
Yet today in all my sadness
I now give thanks
Thanks for our wonderful life
Knowing my dearest heart
That from this day and evermore
I can never say goodbye. smiley - rose

So slow each day floats by
Wrapped in Winter's cold cocoon
As dank drear clouds fly
and encapsulate the moon
Not a star to be seen
To puncture this chilly night
No hint where the day has been
Or knowledge where tomorrow might
Frost sparkles where headlights show
The icy blanket beneath my feet
Animated and dancing crystals glow
Like diamonds glittering in the street
Footprints point away
Others point toward
Stretched with childs play
Cast where we've explored.

The ring on my third left finger
Reminds me every single day
Of the vows we made to each other
To love each other come what may
There's good and bad in all of us
We've had our share it's true
But I hope the day will never come
When I cant stand by you
We've been through good and bad times
We've aged with the seasons and time
We've laid and stood together
It hasn't always been sublime
Now we're old and still together
We adhered through the thick and the thin
Both adjusted with no trepidation
As our Autumn of lives does begin
So when all those younger lovers
Think only they can feel so fine
They've yet to savour our true sweet love
My sweetheart,my eternal Valentine. smiley - magic
