Ah yes, work. You've mentioned it, but not WHAT it is. Super-duper secret stuff? smiley - winkeye

And with the count at 17, ... is the important date the 26th then? Because if it was anytime between the 13th and the 25th, you'd have to wave southwards for me. I'll be in Rochester, NY for that bit of time.

When have I mentioned it, is the question... been doing a bunch of temporary stuff for a while, then got a job as a sort of sales-rep (they called it 'Marketing Associate' - smiley - laugh sounds important, doesn't it?) in a credit card company, which was basically walking around downtown and trying to get people to sign up for the card. Wasn't that bad, actually; good pay, and mostly nice people, and I like downtown. Then my mum told me one of her colleagues is looking for an assistant for the summer, so I did an interview with her - the colleague, not my mum! smiley - silly - and got the job, and that's what keeping me (very) busy at the moment. I'm hoping that maybe I'll be able to continue there after I get back, too, but that's not certain.

smiley - puff
That enough for ya?

Somewhere or other, mail or here, in the last couple of months, I was sure you'd said you were keeping busy with work and the studies. The credit card thingie sounds like a cool one for some folks. My wife being one such, who just loves meeting and dealing with the man/woman on the street. I'm not generally out-going enough to be very successful at that kind of stuff.

Well, I have to admit I wasn't _very_ successful... especially near the time I quit (due to getting the other job), when I was getting worn out.

Not a very good salesperson, in general.

Ah, so even if it was a 'product' that you could get enthusiastic about, eh? All through my school years, we were expected to peddle different things. To raise funds for travels and trips, or specific things a school wanted. I usually found myself at the bottom of any tally sheets.

Are you finding the current 'assistant' post challenging or atleast somewhat interesting?

Yeah, I like it. It is challenging, if only because there's a big load of work; so I get to feel I'm using my head (unlike previous jobs), and actually being useful. My boss is very happy with me, which is good.

Ah heck, some personal satisfaction AND some appreciation from above? Gotta let it go, girl. That kind of stuff just isn't allowed around here. You have to be like the rest of us working stiffs, ... Totally discontent with what-ever are the conditions. smiley - laugh

smiley - laughNah, I ain't like that.

Not saying that it's such a great place to work (my mum has a very hard time with current management, for instance), but since I'm just a peon, the workload is easier.

Well, in one way or another, it IS something constructive or productive of your time. I expect there is some remuneration as well. AND it is another packet of experience that can one-day appear on your resume/CV. So it's all good, one way or another. smiley - smiley

Oh, sure. It is good. And I'm bound to get good references... if I don't end up staying there. If it's possible, that could be neat.

Everybody needs a starting point, m'dear. Though I do NOT recommend my first employment as one for you to investigate. Though race horses are pretty, the feeding, cleansing of their stalls, feeding each a unique diet, and giving them a bit of a walking work-out each day is not that attractive. Even when you're 12 years old ...

Hey, there WAS an upside to it all ... I learned that I have the same admiration and appreciation for horses as my genealogy indicates I should. A heraldic crest exists for my family name, a red horse rampant on a silver shield. Horse breeding (and perhaps a bit of thievery) was long a way of life for them.

smiley - biggrin Cool!
We don't have a crest... not a very common thing 'round these parts.

And contrary to a lot of other people's expectations, NOT every family through-out Europe ever were granted one either. By King, Queen or other Lordly authority. It seems that a variant of my family name was quite involved in community and governing things around what is now Nuremberg. In other words, the old "who ya know" idea.

To me, it's a novelty, and certainly nothing I lay any claim to. Hey, it was some guy, perhaps 3 or 400 years ago that done good. Not me, right?

Well, yeah, but it's cool! You can hang it up on the wall and look all important and old-world-ly! smiley - laugh

smiley - yawnAlright, I gotta be going to sleep. Long day tomorrow... literally; since I'm traveling west, it's going to be a 34-hour day.
*stretch*
So yeah, sleep will be good.

Talk to you later!
