Yeah, liger/tion. I hadn't known about that.
You're on dial up aren't you? I've had to adjust a bit getting used to dial up again after broadband for a year. It seems like every website I go to now is graphics heavy or has some dial-up antagonist like flash - basically they assume that everyone is on bb (or doesn't give a shit that they're not).
Or maybe I'm less patient than I used to be

Yep, still on dial-up.
Patience, dino-apprentice It takes its time, all right, but it gets there in the end

I guess it's all relative anyway There's been a big bunfight there recently because Telecom have managed to keep bb speeds low (they own the lines so other ISPs have to go with T/C's speeds). I think TC are a bunch of b's but I have also been wondering how fast is fast enough, and will I even be able to tell when they up the limit.
There's been a humungous storm in NZ this week, snow on the ground in most places (except here <rollseyes>. There's places in the much colder South Island that still haven't got the power back on after a couple of days. But the much warmer Aucklanders have apparently been moaning about half a day without broadband (they had a half day powercut). Actually it's all a bit of a bone of contention because most of the electricity is generated in the South Island, and there's constant pressure to dam more southern lakes and rivers so that Aucklanders can have pation heaters and wear t-shirts in the winter.
Picking on Aucklanders is a South Island hobby in case you hadn't realised

Sooo, what happens when the two leading teams from Group A have the same number of points. How do they decide who plays the who from Group B? (trying to fill out my chart thingy )

Ok, ignore that last post as I realised later that there is still another round of games to be played ().
Hang-on - TWO DAYS without posting, and on a weekend. What's the story? And here was me going to talk about today's matches
(did the Australians do well or were Brazil being slackers? I couldn't decide who to root for - Japan or Croatia. And yaay Korea ).

Coo ... well aren't I rubbish?
Sorry - it has been a fairly busy week. I've barely had time for the football even!
Did you say the matches were on time delay in NZ? Have you seen what happened last night yet? *straining at the excitement leash*

Hey
I caught a bit of the Australian/Croatian game, but was in the middle of something so couldn't give it my full attention. Was that the exciting bit?
I also saw Brazil scoring lots of goals, but I find those games a bit boring to be honest (we only get the highlights). I prefer a match that's a bit more evenly matched
Christ, it's nearly 3 am. I'm looong* posting in a thread on religion and abortion , jousting with Hoo. Not sure why I am bothering really. I suppose it's been a while since I had a good rant. I'm too tired to do it justice though.
*and missing the Info page proper.
I've saved the UG entry until I've got my brain back
Hey, but you have to tell me now who is first and second when two teams have the same points.

Trin Tragula Posted Jun 23, 2006
Hello!
That certainly was exciting And I know what you mean about one-sided games ... but it was Brazil and that's always a treat. Brazil!
Right: when two teams have the same points, the positions are decided by Goal Difference (the number you've scored minus the number you've conceded). If the two teams have the same GD, then there are other ways of deciding (number of goals scored in the match between the two teams, etc.). If all these things are still equal ... it can be decided by drawing lots. And I believe that has actually happened (I think it was a European Championship sometime rather than the World Cup).
Where? Where? I've seen a few of you loooooongies recently ... I even made a few myself this morning. I'm regretting it already

Yeah, I'm sure if they were playing the whole games I'd be more into it. We get an hour of highlights for 4 games I did notice alot of hard out goals today, rather than the tight scrambles I've been seeing before.
I'm off to look up the GD's now... or maybe I can just find a page with the next round already on it...

BIG! Do your wrists not ache?
(Mine's the Trident submarine one ... I thought it would be interesting because there's a couple of good clear debaters on there with knowledge of the issue - but the last two postings Sorry, but it's like he's waiting to be fed. I don't think I'll go back).
The German Embassy one should have been updated by now. Where was it again?

The terrible thing is I still have more to say but am holding myself back because I don't want to post 3 posts in a row after having taken up most of the previous page
Not sure if this is the 3am blues but it's all pretty pointless. I'm sure Hoo is in it for the sound of his own voice, and even if he's not there is such a huge gap between what I am trying to say and what he is. I'm trying to bridge the gap but I doubt that he is.
Trident eh?

Ah, good to have a laugh before bed.
