Oi! Just becasue I disappear without a word for four months doesn't mean you can take the weekend off And what's all this sleeping in the middle of the night business?
I did actually start this thread because I noticed how busy you've been! (then I got distracted and it was easier to post and run). But look at all 'em editings

'Weekend ... off'? Sorry ... not sure what that means
I thought I was a bit slow, actually Some of those Subs are supercharged
But I'm currently up to my neck in a *huge* University Project (Essex Men Who Built the US), which may make the list look a bit bulkier than normal.
To say nothing of being up to my neck in exam scripts in RL *gestures at big pile just over there*
Actually, I'm up to my neck in those, but I'm now, oo, up to my waist maybe in the Uni Entries - getting there, albeit quite slowly
Sleeping in the middle of the night? I'll have you know I was posting here at three am last night!
Now that is addicted

We need an eyelids propped open with matchsticks smiley
I must have been having my afternoon nap when you were up in the wee hours
>>*gestures at big pile just over there*<<
I'd come to think of that as a permanent fixture. Or a rotating one perhaps - the more you mark the more exams appear. My brother had this job once painting a factory. By the time they'd finished to the end of the shed it was time to start back and repaint the beginning (big shed). Sounds like the dishes pile in my kitchen

Sounds like the Forth Rail Bridge! (Except I understand that's done with some new super-paint now, so they don't have a team working on it constantly anymore ... how unromantic
)
I was only up in the wee hours because I started watching Spinal Tap and then couldn't stop
And I'm only up now because if I don't get this Uni Prodge finished soon, it may never happen *rolls up sleeves*
Which doesn't mean I'm not up for a natter ... obviously

Forth Rail Bridge. Is that in Scotland?
I wonder if I can get some new super-dish cleaner thing that stops my dishes from getting dirty again
I'm just off for me nap now, and then off the town

One of the great feats of Victorian engineering:
http://www.forthbridges.org.uk/railbridgemain.htm
Painting it is proverbial in the UK for a task that will never be completed
Much like washing up in that respect
Aaaw - the ... I've missed that

Oh and having just seen this:

People maintained a very high standard of maintaining the 'UKCentric' thing while you were away - you should be very proud
In fact, it seems to have morphed to new highs of consideration:

I'm going to resist posting a grumpy it's-nearly-winter post there
Speaking of grumpy, Bovril's hang em from the nearest tree posts have been annoying me, hence my ever so polite and neutral request for a link (it was either that or similarly reactive stir em up post).
'Rudolf Nearenough' is a good enough name all on it's own - you don't see that very often with tags *rushes off to try google*

Oo, go on, go on, go on ... It's scorching here We seem to have gone from midwinter to August without any bit in the middle.

A little to the right of Attila the Hun, certainly ... but he can be reasonable. There are others ...
Right - I think I'm going to have to do some, you know, actual work today. It's been a heavy hootooing week so far
This doesn't mean I'll be able to resist checking back this evening of course I'm a helpless addict at the mo ...

That's what I thought which is why his current thread starting is a surprise.

I must be looking in all the wrong places I even tried stalking you but your convo list is so full of dross...er I mean guide entries conversations
that I got lost (and a bit distracted I must admit).
Honestly, I'm a bit bored. I reckon it *is really quiet here at the moment. Well not right now, it's just got busy in the last hour. I remembered the other night the curse of the antipodes, where I really need to go to bed and sleep and everyone else is just hotting up
I've been thinking about putting my name like this: kea [0]. But I'm not sure if people will really get my black humour or have any appreciation of it
I must be bored....

Yeeerrss ... my convo list is subscribed to pretty much everything now, so picking out the juicy bits might prove tricky
Oo - that makes my blood boil
Trin Tragula [Yes, but are they any good?]
I don't know if it's been quiet today or not - I actually did have a bit of a break. Well, I had to really. I actually managed a bit of a marking frenzy, which means I can come on here with a clear conscience now

Go on, I dare you
Just kidding because I'm sure it would be really easy to offend people, and the wrong people at that.
I'm having a packing and cleaning frenzy today, so it's just as well it's not busy. I meant to be going away for a few weeks, but we'll see...

Wrong people? The only people I see doing it are the ones ... you'd expect to be doing it It does really annoy me though. I mean, firstly for the obvious community-dividing reasons, but also because - well, some people can maintain the quality and just do it for the sake of doing it, while others ...
"Look at me, woohoo, Researcher X [25 and they're all cack]"
Still not going to do it though
Going? Away? Weeks? I shudder to think what that might mean in real time
*Considers slipping an electronic tag on kea while she's not looking but feels that might be overdoing it*
(On a serious note, I meant to ask - have you heard from Ivan at all? I noticed he'd Elvised shortly before you got back. Earlier this year, I started making a h2g2 Census - it turned into something far too big and complicated though I will try to go back to it at some stage - I looked at it for the first time in weeks this evening and there was a gap in it: I didn't realise that happened when somebody scrubs their name. Anyway, I never really talked all that much to him, I just sort of knew him through you ... but if you are in touch, say I said 'hi' will you?)

Hey cleverpants Busiest thread on h2 for ages and I wander in at the end
Re Ivan, I haven't caught up with him yet as his blog is on livejournal which you have to register for to post on. His gran died shortly after I got back here, so I've kept up with that a bit (there was a thread on h2 that friends were posting on, plus on his livejournal) but I haven't talked to him directly.
I did post on his PS as I thought he was still checking in there, but haven't heard yet if he is. I'll say hi from you when I get to talk to him
Probably no need to electronically tag me as at the very least I'll have to come back to check on the kakapo
