24 Hour party person

So at 3pm yesterday we began a firefly session - me, howard and John who joined us.

The rules for Firefly drinking are...

Drink when -
Some one speaks chinesse
Theres a space shot
Theres a fight

Doesn't sound a lot, but try it to the title sequence and its bloody hard. Theres different rules for each episode - for instance shindig adds in any time someone uses a title (sir, lord, miss) although by far the best was Jaynestown which removed all the other rules and drinking only when 'Jayne' was said. This allowed a sing along to the titles (yes, we sang, and that makes us mighty!) although sing along to the man they call jayne did go slightly wrong...

If you go out of the room, then you drink a second for everyone you missed - no slacking (although I admit that by the end I was drunk enough to take my can to the conveniently placed toilet).

Anyway... now I've sobered up some I'm going to get ready and head off - I have a meeting in 4 hours where drinking will resume, this time for the society. Gah the things I do.

On second chances

So on Friday I had a spare hour so I went to the pound shop and had a lucky find - that 9/11 documentary about the firefighters... well about the cameramen who were with the firefighters really but still.

Anyway whilst there I indulged in more Star Trek (search for spock - that leaves the motion picture, wrath of khan, and Insurrection). I also picked up collateral, having heard some pretty good stuff about it as well Sky Captain and the world of tomorrow.

Now when I first saw this I didnt give it much of a chance and was pretty appauld by it, but I decided that for a pound it was worth giving it a second go and so far its proving worth the money spent.

Apart from thatI'm behind on my comission work, and I have a new jacket. A new, green jacket thats bloody fantastic

On being a Chairman

I love being a chairman. Its great.

First meeting was last night and I, being the organiser that I am, sorted out the first Fat Monkeys meeting. 11 people came (one third of the society) BUT...

Turns out it was CARNAGE. Now carnage, for those of you who dont know, its a massive pub crawl which seems lots and lots of people attempt to get bladdered as quickly as possible. Very bizarre.

Anyway me, mike, matt and shak all headed into town early to avoid the madness. Then we bumped into the head of rock society and the head of anime - ooooo the tequila and sambuca did flow that night I can tell thee.

It ended up with me getting a taxi home, abaddoning Shak (passed out) in the loos and spent the night eating soup and watching tenacious D. Good times I must say.

Anyway I'm still recovering but the fathers coming round tomorrow for a bit of discussion so I'm making an effort to get the room tidy and look a bit more presentable (Killing his arguement before he starts it is my cunning plan).

Oh and turns out I spent about twenty quid despite drinking heavily all night (8 hour session) AND going to the cash machine three times having run out of money...

I give up today I really do

8:OOam - Alarm goes off, decide to sleep some more

9:00am - Anthony phones. Isnt going freshers fair due to 'illness' although is still going work. Agrees to take me in at 11 because I dont see the point in spending two hours setting up a pile of flyers...

11:30am - Arrive at Freshers fair. Decide were actually in a good spot so are quite happy. Chairman passes by and receives various hints that he'll lose his job at christmas due to incompetance...

12:00 - doors open. Students flood in. No one comes to us.

12:30 - get our first member. Anthony leaves to find matt.

1:15pm - Justin arrives. Says anthony gone. People attempt to join although with no float we find it impossible to let them join...

2:30pm - Rejoice! Matt and Max show up simultaneuously, and thus begins a leaflet bombardment and hard sell from me and Max who've become quite adept.

5:00pm - We all go home. 28 new members, plus double that in the 'I'm interested so email me' pile. Surpisingly large amount of ladies (last year we were an all male society...and the course is largely male).

5:05pm - Get text off sis. Other sis is moving in to dads so she wants info.

5:15pm - Dad finally answers phone. Truth discovered. Massive barny.

6:00pm - After some texts, eventually ring my sis. Has a bit of a cry, feel helpless but promice to support when needed and back off when not. Promice to ring tomorrow for a bit.

7:00pm - Arrive at Roper hall for agreed get together. No one turns up. Not even justin who was meant to.

8:00pm - Go to Max's. Watch much Adult swim and am happy again.

9:30pm - Arrive at Squire's, having decided that the new members will have initiative and arrive there if not going to Roper hall.
Squires shut. Mark heads home

9:50pm - Arrive at library. Pay fees and take out the first tape of I Claudius

10:00pm - Continue heading home.
On route sees couple in car. Lets just say I only looked once...

10:15pm - Arrive home. House stinks. Bins still out. Realise next door has become new student house. Realise that the other next door has a loud stereo.

My head is pounding.

Its not even the sister stuff either, or the stuff with my dad. Its the fact that I now have to organise 60 people into 6 production teams and find enough producers to make it work, knowing full wel that no one - NO ONE - wants to be a producer.

Tonight, I sleep with the teddy monkey. Why? Well I'm miserable.
No, stop there. Not down that road tonight.

I'm going to have a cup of tea, and watch something funnyAddams family or lee evans, then go to bed.

Today has been hell.

I'm having a rant so there

Right, I'm tired and I'm stressed.

For the past 7 days I've attempted to make tshirts for the Society which I run. Anywho the treasurer mentions that he wants to wear one for the first lecture back so what do I do? I rush to get em done on the day and he changes his mind...

Now the rest of the tshirts weren't done, and he's the only one with ink for the printer in the house so he agrees quite happily to print off the other sheets. When does he do it? 9 hours before freshers fair begins (well, for the societies anyway).

Anyway he then tells me we should be there at 10am to set up - doors dont open till 12 by the way which means 2 hours of sitting around doing nothing.

'Ill buy you a coffee in town' firstly, I drink coffee to keep me awake, and even then its evil coffee*. Secondly, at that time in the morning, theres only two things I want - a nice cup of tea and something to eat. Thirdly, I know for a fact that within the first 15 minutes of us being in the coffee shop, hes going to phone his missus and bugger off - OR he's going to arrange things so I have to run around like a complete headless chicken and likely end up attending the stall alone at freshers fair.

Oooooooo I'm in a bad mood - mainly because he's only doing the stall for half a day, AND he isnt coming out in the evening with all the new people for a drink. Great way to start the societies year.

Having said that, hopefully the Secretary and some members will come out so it wont be a total drop out but still. I'm angry.

And I'm incredibly tired so off to bed for me - I have a busy day on the morrow....

* 1/4 cup of caffine, 1/4 cup of sugar, 1/4 cup of hot water, 1/4 cup of milk. Microwave if necessary. Created by accident, kept me up to the 48 hour mark.
