Art Plein Amsterdam

Every Sunday at the ''Spui'' in Amsterdam S.A.I.A. organizes an exhibition in the open air with recent work of sixty Dutch and international professional artists.

All techniques are present: paintings in oil and acrylics, water colours, graphic arts, sculpture, ceramics and jewellery.

Thanks to the rotating system, original work of 25 different participants is to be seen every Sunday, while the harp/guitar duo ''Sunflower'' is playing music that fits the atmosphere.

Art Plein Spui offers a unique opportunity to buy directly from the artists without the involvement of galleries or museums, and to communicate with the makers themselves in picturesque surroundings.

Art Plein Spui, in the hart of old Amsterdam, near the beautiful Begijnhof and the Historical Museum, is open from March trough December every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

We look forward to seeing you.

Stichting Amsterdam International Artists (Amsterdam International Artists Foundation)..

P.S. I - Alfredo, am not involved, but wanted this to share with the HG community anyway.

North Korea 2007

Most of us know the harrow of the ghost country North Korea.
It even leaves fiction behind. No one knows what to do when the regime has collapsed.

China, Russia and South Korea are not waiting for millions of fugitives who have been brainwashed for decades and are underdeveloped and do have expectations to the outside "free world".

Well, the problems will be high, but that can not mean that some politicians want the dictatorship to go on as long as possible to avoid a very unstable situation in South East Asia.We - the free world - and China need to talk - behind closed doors - about what to do when that might happen; a collapse, anarchy and millions of fugitives who are mentally crushed.

Like Iraq, we see the causes of just having a negative plan (besides the truth behind that plan).

For North Korea, we don't dare to have a negative plan, let aware an emergency plan of first aid and reconstruction.
Discussing it now will be difficult, because China and USA and South Korea are not great friends and there will be a power vacuum also, besides floods of hungry peoples. But that needs more attention and care for a sustainable plan for North Korea. We did learn a bit from East Germany integrating with West Germany.

What did we learn? That it still is until this day a very tough way to integrate the Eastern part with the Western part and it will never be what it was before and reuniting is very expensive. We should talk about this, because the problem is not at the doorstep of the outside world.

There must be some kind of agreement of what the international community will do when North Korea collapses as a state. What can the U.N. do and other Ngoc’s?We should prepare; that should be our care.

I just saw at Dutch TV a program about North Korean fugitives who fled to China and were sent back, because China must stay in a certain kind of balance between the dangerous idiot Kim Yung Ill and China's internal politics and with its own relations with other states like South Korea, USA, Japan and Russia.
I'll just give one of my paintings the titel; North Korea 2007.

Life and death of Dutch writer, Jan Wolkers.

I can't describe the life, books, statues and paintings by Jan Wolkers, without copying it from tee internet.
I will not do that, so I put here a link in English description about the man Jan Wolkers who just died, a few days ago. It's now the end of October 2007. He almost was 82 years old and still painting.

Well, I could not join the life report about his funeral so I saw it today at the internet.
But I'll just give here a link at Y.Tube where one can watch a Dutch news program about his life and death.

Anyhow; I was watching the funeral at the internet today, and at the end, while his wife and children touch the unpainted wooden coffin and music of Bach could be heard, I suddenly started to cry.

I was reminded about something that once had happened in my early childhood at Christmas (the Dutch version; "sinterklaas".doesn't matter). At Christmas day I was invited by "Sinterklaas" to come and he asked me how many brothers and sisters I had.
Well, it was a hell of a job to count them one by one and finally I said; "I think it is seven".
Still today, I can not answer that question within five seconds.

The cry had apparently two sources; I loved him as an artist/writer/
Sculptor/media personality and I also loved him as a brother, more than I've ever loved my physical brothers; four.

The BBC has to economize

I just saw/heard at my Dutch T.V. that the "Beep" has to cut down a lot of money. That means the loss of 1800 employees, on a total of 23 thousand.

They should become - as I understand - more interactive.

Maybe it's all from well reason, but the best quality television at the globe still comes from the BBC (and German Arte).

I'll instantly invent a god tonight and I'll try him to allure to obstruct this plan.
