Hi Danny.

Elektra, we're all fine. My parents are getting noticeably older and frailer, though, so my sister and me go up there for a short visit every few weeks.

The old couple where I go house cleaning once a week are getting worse, too. She keeps falling.

On my way to the shop this morning, I saw their son's car parked in front of their house. As it wasn't even 8am (and they usually only rise past 8am), I knew this meant trouble. smiley - erm

So, on my way back home, I stopped there to inquire after them. Ida had fallen again, that's why their son had been there - to pick her up.

She was still in bed but wanted to get up, so I stayed for a while to help her get up and dress.

Then at around noon, they called: she had fallen again. So my husband and I went to pick her up again.

I talked with their son, who told me, when he had gone there again at 10am, she had fallen, so he picked her up.

I'm very distressed.

Something needs to be done. Their son wants to get them some professional help, so we need to convince them to agree to it.

We'll check in on them again tonight, before we go to a birthday party.

Things gĀ“have taken a bit of a dramatic turn since I wrote that. On Sunday, she was transferred to hospital, where they found that she had had a stroke. She's still in hospital. Social services are not yet able to advise anything.

Hi Bel. A friend of ours was very fragile and unwell for sometime. In due course his condition got so bad that he was rushed into hospital and admitted to a care home. It took a while to persuade him that he needed help, a while and a crash, but he is there now and he is much better.

Yes, if there is nobody at home who can take proper care, and if the condition is very fragile, a care home is the only option.
