Have you heard anything back yet from the Eds in reply to your e-mails about moderation?

I only got the moderation email for my journal this morning.
I replied to it, but the whole thing is so ridiculous, I can't be bothered to alter my post just to abide by a rule that isn't written down anywhere I could have found it.

So your post actually *did* break a rule

So you received a reply from the moderators. Did you reply to that, passing on the message to the Eds?

There's no point in grumbling about moderation if you don't inform the Eds, and the way to do that is to reply to the moderation e-mail.

I agree with Gnomon. Make sure everybody gets a copy.

Even if you suspect - and even if the suspicion is correct - that nothing will be done about it, the consistent (=konsequent) thing to do is to 'dot all the i's and cross all the t's' by laying out chapter and verse on what's wrong here.

At least we get something down on the record.

Also, if we knew exactly what the problem was, we could ALL advocate some improvement. Loudly. Frequently. And etc.

If you reply to the moderation e-mail, then it is referred to the eds, as far as I know.

Well, I didn't exactly insist they should put it back. I told them the automated message I quoted was just too silly not to share, and that I can't find the rule they say I broke written down anywhere - and a few other things. I don't think they'll refer it to the eds.

So, here's an interesting thing:

Word 1 can be used in a nickname, but cannot be used in a post.
Word 2 can be used in a post, but not in a nickname.

Consistency, my arse.

I don't know what word 2 is, but I'm pretty sure that it will only be removed from a nickname if the mods spot it, and that it will also be removed from a posting if they spot it there.

Word 1 is allowable in context, but they've stupidly added it to the "not allowed" list on the profanity filter, rather than the "check this for context" list. I'm pretty sure that if you used word 1 in an obviously offensive way in a nickname, that would be removed too when they spotted it.
