I suggest dropping English as the working language of h2g2. As half the words in it are apparently too obscene to use it clearly isn't fit for purpose.

What really frustrates me about the current moderation atmosphere, is that perfectly fine postings are removed, temporarily or otherwise, while people who not only openly admit but literally boast that they are here only to flame and troll people whose opinions they disagree with, are allowed to post all the personal abuse they want, be it racist, misogynist, homophobic, swearing, obscene, ageist or whatever. I'm growing increasingly sick of it- I would never again consider writing anything on h2g2 and there are so many people whose postings I need to ignore that it's hardly worth following most conversations any more, either.

Yet when Bel says something neither abusive nor in any way in violation of any of the posted House Rules, the postings are moderated? That's bull poop.

I agree, psychocandy. And since it's only Saturday, nothing is going to happen until Monday.

This stuff has really gone nuclear since I left the Post Team, so I can't imagine how much work it must make everything for you all now.

I'm sure the Eds have enough work to do themselves without having to be constantly called away to resolve bizarre moderation issues. A bit more sanity would make life easier for everyone.

Yes, the eds have the launch to prepare, and common sense doesn't seem to prevail anywhere on h2g2 any more.

The only way a posting, that's been there best part of 12 hrs, gets referred is by it being yikesed. They can't be edited once posted so nothings changed, just someone being spiteful is my guess.

Eh up Bel, perhaps we'll get Fan Mail rather than an e-mail.

True, I *did* get fan mail.

Mine is still showing as referred so no e-mail as yet. Ho hum, this will be my first yikesed post by a third party in 5 years.

Only other 2 posts I've had removed were done by myself.

No, I tried to type in Ear Múffs again, and when it wouldn't let me, I typed in myself. No moderators were involved in the making of that (or indeed this) post.
