Pierre de la Mer ~ sometimes slightly worried but never panicking ~ Posted Jul 17, 2008
i tuned in, turned on, dropped out and literally left my family when i was 17
i really really needed it at the time and it was a valuable learning experience that i have never regretted
a year later i pulled myself together and started doing something 'with a future'
in some strange way i always knew i would

He seems to be at peace with the current situation, which is good. Currently, he still comes here everyday for his and his from me, and he's not ashamed to admit it. He told me, though, that it will get less once he's eventually moved in his own flast. I told him I wouldn't expect anything different.

>> Oh, and he *did* sit at his PC all day for a long time - until the husband took his monitor away. <<

Well, it didn't have the result asimed for, plus son already was 19 at the time, plus it was son's monitor which he had paid for himself.

I wasn't on the last days, so I can only write something now.
Bel, to me it seems you are doing great with your sons. And in fact, if your son has left school one year before it really ended, he knows in fact as much as those who will take their exams in the end. At least he doesn't miss much education. And what is more important, he is not sitting at home not doing anything, but is going to do something.
About your parents and your m-i-l:
Perhaps you should write letters to them, declaring your independance (and telling them you are old enough to live your live, including the fact that you, not them, are responsible for your kids - and stating you are doing well).

Thanks, Tina, but I think I'll just not continue the discussion with them.
My son was just here, asking me to make a salad for a birthday party he's invited to. I pointed out that he could have told me earlier , and that he was lucky I had all the things he'd need for a salad.
But how can you resist when you're told: Mum, you are the best.

when I am told: Mum you are the best I either ask what they want, or what they have done (or I have just something they love)
No, I know what you mean - charming devils they are, arent't they?
