Who has Yikesed Post 1? And why?
This site really does leave a bad taste in the mouth sometimes.
My , for what it's worth: there's no condoning FM's rudeness; he was bang out of order, but we're also not here to stick up for Fizzy. For her to leave the site because she felt a lack of support is sad, but - knowing her - I'm surprised she didn't feel able to fight her case on its own merits.

You are right, that's what she'd have done normally, but currently, every close relative of hers is of ill health - her aunt has cancer, her sister is about to lose a foot, her daughter has broken her leg, and she herself has quite some health problems, too, so for once, she just didn't have the energy to fight her corner.
As for who yikesed my journal and why, I can't even guess.

I don't understand what's going on - do I ever? - especially on Hootoo, but 'there seems to be an unhealthy atmosphere on hootoo currently' - I agree 100% with that statement from B'Elena (Post 8).
Unfortunately we seem to be going through one of our unfortunately periodic periods, when things get rather unfortunate and it all gets very boring because we are undergoing a small plague of unfortunate (half) wits trying to be what they imagine is witty and clever. Fortunately such people soon get fed up and move on, and so the pendulum swings again.
It does seem to me as if Hootoo is going down the tube, but with any luck this is just another one of its cycles.
As the Prof said, t'aint their fault really, but sometimes I wish it could t'ain't be their fault somewhere else.
defo not trying to be - just stating my two pennyworth.

For the two years that I've been here there's been pretty much constant talk that h2g2's going down the tubes. This in spite of the fact that it's also been increasingly fun to be around. I think it's perspective.
I also agree with Bel in that the thing to do is to concentrate on what you like. The Post is going great guns with Bel & Skanky at the helm. There's photography going on - a grand new entrance into audio visual - it's an exciting time actually.
At the risk of being tedious I'll say again what I've said before - make having fun intentional. It's worthwhile.

Pallaway. I agree that it seems, rather than is. It's when your intentionally restricted areas of fun get invaded by that it's hardest. But I do believe that these things go in cycles, and when Hootoo is at its best it's a fantastic place to be. Let's hope it continues that way.

I've been away for four days, so to come back and find that things had escalated to such an extent that Fizzy had felt she had to leave was a bit of a shock.
I must admit I didn't defend her when her entry was criticised, but only because I haven't read it. I can't comment on it without having read it.
I hope she comes back when RL is a bit better.

She wasn't too sure about the entry from the start, so somebody saying it was no guide material wasn't the problem. It was how it was said, and where it was said, and the refusal to address it in her PR thread although she had asked for that several times.

Who'd have thought that this list on the FP would prove to be handy - as the first post is still gone, this journal doesn't appear on my PS, and scrolling through my conversation list to find it is tedeous - but it is no 10 on the FP.
Btw, Jab, I agree, the highs and lows definitely come in circles. And Paily, you are right, too: there are fantastic things going on here, like the AViators, the Beeblecast, the Photographers and the Post, and I'm very pleased that I'm involved in most of them.
I may seem exhausted at times, but never stressed, and I'm amazed about the way I changed within the five years I've been here.
Key: Complain about this post
