But is anybody going to be bothered to read through that much on a screen? It's a discourtesy to the readers, IMO.

The longest I've got in one EGE is 6,200 I think, but I've just got one recommended that's 6,600. Then again I've written several entries much longer than that that got split up. But then again, like a dope, I often pick big subjects which require a lot of information.
Hope you don't draw the short straw on any more monster-type entries soon

Did you mean Alex's long entry? Probably one of those tube lines. Last time I read one of those I fell asleep at Marble Arch and woke up at West Ruislip.

I don't think the length of entries puts people off as such. As long as it's broken into enough sections that their eyes don't start to bleed.

I was just thinking that if I could write 4,341 words I'd be a very happy bunny right now.

Well, with my Entries, I don't necessarily expect them to be read at a sitting. I write them partly to store information that I find difficult to find elsewhere and partly so that anyone who wants a specific piece of info (concerning an Entry I've written) would likely find it in that Entry. i.e. I intend them to be 'dipped into'. (However, I did once get criticised - somewhat unfairly IMO - for trying to incorporate everything that's known about a subject. Perhaps I did in the early days, but I think I've learned how to keep them to a respectable length)

I had a nap now, but I guess I should better go back to sleep:
I get neither the man reference, nor Sho's remark.

Oh, and my last post ws a classical post 20 syndrome.
I think it's not so much the length that shockd me so much, as more the subject in connection with the length.
If it something I have/take an interest in, I hardly even realise the length.

Oh, and I was curious now, so I went and counted the words in one of the last entries I subbed. At 3,927 words it's not significantly shorter, but it didn't even occur to me that it was that long when I subbed it.

I checked my Cincinnatus entry that you just subbed, and at 1,195 words I'm glad it shouldn't have been too onerous!
