If you have Paint you can open it in that and then save it again as a jpg, if you know how to do that.

tried that, but it just tells me that it is not a valid bitmap an paint can't support it, then paint crashes, I think rescaning would just be easier

Re-reading Lucky Star's posting I realise that her concern was more about weirdos looking at the site and then taking the p*ss elsewhere.

Another option available is that I can 'lock' that album and give everone who sends in a photo the password by email. But I think it's nicer (at least for now) to keep it open so that people can actually have a look before deciding to join. Or even just have a look.

And anyhow, any people who would make an unkind comment on another thread are saying more about themselves by doing so.

Meanwhile, it's quite fun here to read other people's reactions and opinions.

Hey, don't lock it off. The guy in the link is a sad case, and I couldn't care less what he thinks (see my journal for an explanation).

LuckyStar, it's easy to change the format of your picture. Just right click on the name of the file, and put ".jpg" after it. It will then be saved as a .jpg instead of a .bmp.

Just like the real world.

I find a strict application of carrot and stick to a chorus of hyena laughter, bear growlings and humming the theme from Jaws while inserting oblique references to mafia hits and gang beatings usually dissuades them. But zoomer's technique of boring them to death seems to have been rather effective as well:

A noble effort. But I am more concerned that zoomer might allow himself to be upset by the likes of the Boxing Baboon. It takes all kinds to make a cyberworld and real-life techniques such as 'simply ignoring them' do work quite well. Otherwise just remember they are like mayflies or mosquitoes, passing seasonal pests with predictable daily behaviours. Just wear long sleeves around sundown.

In my business we advertise to get more business (which is... ...advertising...).

Well really, the initial response was quite overwhelming. I don't really expect to be getting new photos every day. And the word-of-mouth system seems to be working quite well.

So no, don't actually want to 'advertise'.

Oh yes, I mentioned in the first posting that people should tell their friends. For example, by dropping them a note on their PS.

I'd just prefer not to have the link posted on 'ask h2g2' or in the Post as jwf suggested. I guess I'm afraid it might get too big and impersonal that way. Maybe not. But I think word-of-mouth will eventually get quite a few people over here.
