Okay, can anyone explain this RSS stuff to me *nice...and...slowly*?
When I click on RSS Entries and Comments I get this message:
"This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below."
Meanwhile, kea told me that she could see my lost 'mental health day' post on her RSS feed summary.
Help?

This is crazy! Okay, found out that I could use Google Reader just by signing in with my Gmail account, so did that and then added several blog links to my reading list. To test it, Noggin started a new post on his blog and . . . nuthin.
Then I tried using the one that comes with Firefox, which looks easy enough to set up by clicking on the Live Bookmarks thingy - except I don't seem to have a Live Bookmarks thingy.
Oh, I give up and will just stay with checking in on other people's blogs from time to time.

click the orange thingy at the end of the url bar / where type the web address. if there is no orange thingy look for the rss link and right click and look for livefeed.

<> (TiT)
Well perhaps this is where part of my confusion lies as I thought Google Reader *was* an RSS reader.
It's just that alji suggested one he uses but it's a desktop one and I prefer to have one that I can access from both computers (my PC and Nog's laptop). So I think that means we want a web-based feed reader.
Bloglines is one that has been mentioned on Wordpress so I might try that out.

I really appreciate all your help, pedante' - no worries at all there. But I mean, even the Nogster can't figure this RSS stuff out and he's usually way better at this sort of thing than I am.
Will check out your links.

Traveller in Time building his own 'readers'
"There are 'feed- and news- readers' available for Opera and Firefox/netscape. Just what used to be a kind of plugin.
The best result they give is only halway as sophisticated as the popup window for conversations. Well they do not forget about a conversation if there are 400 newer. "

As far as I know it is RSS, but I haven't experimented with it much. I don't know why it wouldn't work, unless the blog feeds are XML feeds that aren't compatible with the Google Reader, but that seems kind of improbable.
I use Sage very happily, but that's not web-based so isn't really going to help you much.

For the Google Reader, make sure you have clicked the little box (on you "Webclips" page (in settings, at the top of your Gmail screen). Your reader selections will appear on the top bar of you Gmail page. You can scroll through the Reader "headlines" by clicking the little arrows to the right of the bar (I have a lot of RSSs so I have a lot to scroll through) when you find one you want to read, click on the headline and it will pop up as a new window (directly from the website).

Sorry, the little box on your Webclips set-up page is titled "Show my web clips above the Inbox"

azahar Posted May 15, 2006
I don't see Webclips anywhere on the page.
Meanwhile, I thought the reader also showed whenever there were new comments added to a post - it seems that on Google reader only new posts show up.
