Matholwch - Brythonic Tribal Polytheist

Hi Aztheist smiley - magic,

If you are the ordinary tourist then English Heretics keep you a good 100' away across golf green like grass and little shin high ropes.

But if you are a member of the British Druid Order or The Druid Network then at the Solstices you have exclusive access to the entire site for the sunrise/sunset ceremonies.

On June 21st the entire site is opened to thousands of revellers and a complete mess is made.

The BDO and TDN restrict numbers at their observances to about 100 celebrants normally two or three days before or after the 21st so as not to attract the great crowds of pre-Glastonbury Festival-ers.

At the Equinoxes, and other celebrations, many tend to meet at Avebury (Caer Abiri), which is larger and completely open.

Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

Any chance that someone could tape this programme for us?

Math, it's great that you get special permission to use the site and are not considered to be the same as 'ordinary tourists'. smiley - ok

Well, Noggin has just come back from a Christmas shopping expedition - still says he hasn't found the 'piece de resistance' but I noted several shopping bags . . . hmmm . . .

Meanwhile, he has been giving me a very lovey pre-Christmas present. Every year, the week before Christmas, I re-read Dicken's Christmas Carol because I love it so much. But this year, Noggin is now reading it to me as a bed-time story, little by little, this week.

A few pages every night.

He has a lovely reading voice and although I've had to give him a bit of coaching on his 'bah humbug!' he is doing very well. smiley - loveblush

Wishing the same to you and yours. And of course to everyone else here. smiley - smiley

Just back from the last of the Christmas shopping. We've put on a Christmas cd, opened some white wine and are feeling very Christmassy indeed.

Much love to you all.

Merry Christmas smiley - smiley

I'm sitting in work wasting time until I can go home and start cooking. Picked up my bird yesterday, it is a monster and far bigger than we need! Did I tell you that J's parents have dumped us? J rang them to find out what time they were arriving and they told him they had decided they didn't want to come after all. How could they be so mean to J? smiley - grr We are both very angry with them at present, not to mention fed up that we have got tons more food than we now need - in fact we would have gone to my uncle for christmas dinner if his parents hadn't agreed to come to us this year to meet my family. My mum is a bit hurt and thinks they don't want ot meet her smiley - steam

Now they are coming for lunch on boxing day, but frankly I wish they wouldn't. *sigh*

On the positive side, it means that christmas day will be spent only with people I can relax around and should therefore be lots of fun smiley - ok

Hope you and Noggin have a lovely day az, and everyone else reading here (sorry for intruding on your thread, I can't even remember how I ended up here!).

Tsk, don't be silly - love having you here! Anyhow, Fathom often disappears for ages so it's great having you and the others here to chat with. So I hope you stick around.

I can't believe the in-laws have backed out at the last minute! Very inconsiderate, to say the least.

Well, quite.

Our Christmas dinner menu has expanded a bit. Now it will be slow roasted duck, small leg of lamb and some boneless pork ribs, with roasted potatoes and carrots, steamed broccoli and stuffing made on the side. With steamed giant prawns (langostinas) for a starter. I feel myself getting fatter just talking about it - but we are having my friend and neighbour Eric over (who *knows* how to eat) and any left-overs we have will be used to make a Shepherds Pie on boxing day.

I can't believe how excited and happy I feel about Christmas this year. Even Noggin says it's going to be the best Christmas he's had in years. smiley - loveblush

logicus, what are your plans for Christmas?

Meanwhile, if we are still sober enough by then, I *may* in fact drag Noggin out to midnight mass tonight at the Cathedral (just around the corner) as I've never done this.

A couple of years ago I went to a midnight mass at a convent (also around the corner) of cloistered nuns. Talk about bizarre. During the mass we could hear the nuns singing (beautifully) but couldn't see them. And afterwards we went to pay our respects to them in a special room where they were behind bars!

Post 894

Noggin the Nog

Quite like the idea of going to midnight mass actually. Not for religious reasons, but just to join in with the atmosphere of it all. The carols, the togetherness, the ritual, and all that.

Havea good one, logicus.
