would have thought should be fairly easy to have excell? running in two lanquages, as xp has the techno for different setting for different users.

Noggin,
I've got Excel XP and the help file suggests you can change the language if the multilingual option is installed - presumably you can do this if you have the original discs.
The following was copied from the help screen:
"Change the language of the user interface or Help in Office programs
To change the user interface or Help language, your organization must have purchased and distributed Microsoft Office XP Multilingual User Interface Pack, and it must be installed. For details, see your system administrator.
On the Microsoft Windows Start menu, point to Programs, point to Microsoft Office Tools, and then click Microsoft Office XP Language Settings.
On the User Interface tab, do one of the following:
Change the user interface language
In the Display menus and dialog boxes in box, click the language you want.
Change the Help language
In the Display Help in box, click the language you want.
Note Some Microsoft Office components don't support changing the language of the user interface or Help. For more information, see the Microsoft Office XP Resource Kit."
It appears you do this in Windows rather than in Excel itself.
If you need any help with Excel I'm reasonably competent with it. If it's complicated send me an e-mail of the problem and I'll try to send you a solution (with sufficient commentary to explain how to do it) as an attachment.

kelli - ran 2 miles a day for 2012, aiming for the same for 2013 Posted Dec 16, 2004
Finished flouncing out in a huff now az?
I'll be playing with puppies! Oh, and having everyone to christmas dinner at our house - we'll have ten people and four dogs
We are having to do things like make cranberry sauce because his mother wouldn't consider it a proper dinner with stuff out of a jar I actually prefer the jar stuff as her recipe is for cranberry and orange and I don't like cooked orange, so we'll have some of the 'wrong' stuff just for me
Still haven't put up any decorations, or done any shopping. My babies are proving too much of a distraction
You?

Maaayybeeee . . .
So, if you make fresh cranberry sauce and put it in a jar she still wouldn't eat it? Honestly, some people.
I still have a bit of Christmas shopping to do. We've put up a few decorations and lights, but with and it's impossible to have a tree. Especially with - he'd probably try to eat it. Or at least he would find a way to to knock it over so he could play with all the baubles.
Anyhow, quite looking forward to Christmas this year.

Noggin the Nog Posted Dec 16, 2004
Me too.
Christmas shopping is way behind schedule, though (as usual).
Fathom - my version of office doesn't appear to have the language change option, but a friend of mine is sending me an English language version, which should be easier for me to work with.

Awwwwwwww!
I still have to get presents for:
Aunt
Uncle
my brother
his brother
his dad
J
And I don't have a clue what any of them would like this year! Wish we had agreed not to bother this year, or at least done a secret santa. Panic, panic, panic...

Fathom Posted Dec 16, 2004
Hi guys,
Been busy at w*rk, away from my desk, so haven't been in here as much over the last couple of days.
Noggin, when you get that sorted out if you need any help let me know. I sent you an e-mail with a teensy-weensy example but you are probably well beyond the basics now.
No decorations up yet - that's to do this weekend - and a bit of shopping still to do but nearly ready now. A couple more weeks and we'll be ready for Christmas.

Just for the record, my little 'hissy-fit' the other day had nothing to do with Noggin, it was about me feeling way too oversensitive about Fathom making fun of me for being BORING.
I quite like that this thread now includes others, but for a long time it was just me and Fathom.
And I fondly remember how he and I spent Christmas together here last year - well, he showed up to spend some time with me because he knew I was on my own.
And he even started this thread because - somehow - he thought I was an interesting person.
Like I say, I am quite enjoying the input from all the other friends who have joined us here. But sometimes a wee bit of me misses having Fathom all to myself. Just him and me talking.
Anyhoodle, that's not to say that I want any of the rest of you to stop posting here - because I don't. I really like everyone who is here and talking to you all.
But sometimes I miss my old frienship with Fathom, when it was just him and me.
Does that make sense?

Fathom Posted Dec 17, 2004
I'm genuinely touched by that az.
May I say that I'm delighted that you have someone to share Christmas with this year 'in real life' and I hope it will continue for very many more Christmasses.
For the record, you ARE an interesting person. You've led an interesting life doing different things in widely different places. The people who have chosen to post here simply reflect those who enjoy your company, albeit in a virtual sense, because we feel we benefit from your friendship. Like me; Kelli, logicus et al have shared in your concerns over finding students and decorating and renting your room, have cried with you over poor Lua and are basking in your happiness with Noggin. I'm delighted to be your friend and I enjoyed those 'private' chats too but I can understand why other friends were drawn into the conversation.
So, az, what are you doing this Christmas? Any wild parties or just some quiet nights in and a few nights out? Got any great ideas for prezzies?

azahar Posted Dec 18, 2004
Thanks, Fathom.
No, no Christmas parties lined up. Mostly it will be hanging out here eating and drinking far too much! And opening prezzies.
Poor Noggin. None of the usual 'girlie' gift ideas will work with me (jewellery, chocolate, clothing) and he has been strictly forbidden to buy me an electrical appliance as a gift!
So I have no idea what he's going to come up with, and I rather think he still doesn't either.
I always have lots of great gift ideas. Of course, can't tell you what I've bought for Noggin so far.
What are some of the great gifts that you and others have come up with?

Hmm, got a couple of prezzies sorted, but given the aforementioned restrictions I'm a bit stumped for a "piece de resistance," so to speak. Any suggestions welcome.

Hi Noggin
Has Az got a dishwasher? Other than you that is?
Anyway isn't it a bit daft to ask such a question in front of the good lady. Half the fun is in the surprise!
Oh well, Solstice tomorrow and lots to prepare .
Blessings,
Matholwch /|\.

Can't you read??? NO ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES!
In fact, we do have a dishwasher here, installed by the previous tenants, but I've never used it. Seems a silly waste of electricity for just two people. And anyhow, I've got Noggin.
Still need a window-cleaner though . . .
What are you preparing for the solstice?

Hi Az
I am preparing the song I will sing tomorrow at Stonehenge. It was written by an American friend Jean, and butchered by me .
That is if I can throw off this dreadful cold in time .
Blessings,

How close can you get to Stonehenge these days?
Anyhow, often having a cold results in a deeper more sultry voice, so there ya go. Sexy beast.

oh logicus!
You are my very own personal stalker and you follow me everywhere - bless you! This makes me feel quite special.
You know you are always welcome - and if you didn't know it before then you do now.
Awhile ago I got a message from Elfrida, someone I hadn't heard from in ages as apparently she'd been away from hootoo. But she got back in touch. And we've been chatting (I've also been quite enjoying her input on the God thread and the FFFF thread). And today she sent me an email with a link to some music she has created and I thought - wow! All of my friends here are really *such* exceptional people. Very very special and wonderful beings.
It's like I have so totally lucked out.
All the really amazing and interesting people here seem to like me!
And Fathom says that's because I'm interesting too.
Sometimes I think I honestly don't know how I'd get by without you all.
