Yes, seven cities in the end. W**kers!
I thought I was going to have a proper work day today but three of my classes were cancelled so now I just have one this evening. So it's more or less a five-day long weekend for me.
We've been re-upholstering and re-glueing dining room chairs today - well, makes a change from Scrabble.
What's everyone else up to?

Not sure if I've already mentioned this before, but one biz idea that Noggin and I have talking about setting up is my clothing biz (an idea I've had for years). I'd be in charge of designing and marketing and he would take care of accounting and production (using his new-found excel skills). We still have quite a bit of research to do on this project, which may amount to nothing in the end, but it does seem like a viable project. And even if we don't end up doing it the research and financial projections, etc will all be valuable experience.
Noggin reckons that he is probably going to end up with two or three 'part-time' projects happening rather than one biz idea, which also makes sense.
How are you doing with your stuff, Fathom?

At the moment I'm going down the conventional route of looking for a job. I've sent in one internal application and have sent out one external one. The problem is I'm not sure I would want either job.
This would be a good opportunity to start my own business if I had the nerve (and a good business idea). So, what's the next 'big thing'? If it was 1984 it would be video rental. 1994 perhaps mobile phones. Should I open an internet cafe? Practise some mystical healing technique? Sell 'magick crytals'? (Even I'm not that cynical.)

Hmmm, well I don't actually have that option anymore since the past fifteen years I've worked has pretty much made me 'unemployable' to most people.
For me starting up a biz is not so much a question of nerve as simply being my only option.
Meanwhile, my clothing biz idea is rather good as it is geared to a select market, so small production and higher prices shouldn't be a problem.

Who is your select market az?
I spent last night painting my bathroom, and having realised half way through the second coat that the colour is all wrong I shall be doing it again tonight

Basic target market is women between the ages of 30-60, who are interested in quality-made all natural material garments that are not 'hippy-ish'. Made for real women with real bodies. I actually have two lines in mind - one a sort of 'easy wear' week-end line (though if someone can dress casually for work it wouldn't have to be weekend wear) and also a nightwear line.
Aaargh - I hear ya with the wrong paint colour thing! When I was painting the flat next door this past summer the shop sent me the totally wrong colour, so I sent it back to be changed. The next day they sent something closer but still not what I'd wanted, but since Blues Shark and Strangelittlegirl were showing up the next day I *had* to at least get the two front rooms painted for them, so I couldn't send the paint back AGAIN. And then had to later paint the rest of the flat with the same icky somewhat pinkish tone. Kind of a light 'magnolia'? The colour I'd wanted was the same my flat is painted now - a very pretty 'vanilla'.
Well, you should only need to do one coat of the new colour, right?

Nothing much to report, except that Excel is driving me - partly because my version is in Spanish (anyone know how to change it to English ?), and most of the tutorials I can find are full of "click on X and follow the instructions". And prtly because my failing old brain simply doesn't pick stuff up the way it used to.

Already got a Spanish teacher, thanks Logicus, but it will be awhile before I can follow instructions in it, I fear.
DonĀ“t know if the software I've got allows for changing the languae. If anyone knows and can give me specific instructions that *would* be appreciated

One of *those* days was essentially my fault; one ofthe downs rather than ups, and not my finest hour (won't say more than that).
Will have a look at those links, Logicus, and report back
