Hi Az,

Apart from the above slip in the 'universal truth' thread you also posted "What can I say? I was late and I have a bad cold."

Did you mean IT was late? If you meant what you typed I can understand you being distracted smiley - laugh

Well, I *was* late for bed. smiley - winkeye

Oh, please take pity on a poor ol' poorly woman whose head feels like it is stuffed with dirty laundry.

I don't mean to be coming across so HEAVY on the other thread, but I think Hoo can speak for himself, as he so often does when it suits him.

My comment was not against what you said in his defense, I hope you didn't take it badly.

Actually you were quite right; I interpreted someone else's words to favour my own viewpoint. That was not a good thing to do and I won't do it again.

hi Fathom,

<>

Oops. That sentence was not worded properly. I *meant* to say that my comment was not against *you* saying what you said, although I cannot agree with what you said in Hoo's defense until he says something about it himself. Because I don't know if he meant it the way it came across or not. I don't think he ever will now and really, it's not important.

Thing is, sometimes we say things we don't really mean on hootoo. Or in my recent situation, my brain has been so fuzzy with soiled laundry (though i'm feeling better now!) that I think I have said a few very fuzzy things myself recently. smiley - smiley

The point was that I hoped you didn't feel I was somehow attacking you, because I wasn't. And anyhow, I never attack anybody, though occasionally people think I am so I am always quick to try and clear up any sort of misunderstanding.

Anyhoodle, it appears we understand each other so that's good.

Glad to see you are back online! smiley - cheers

I have decided not to post on the FFFF thread for a bit, until I feel somewhat better about the place. Recently some people were talking about *nobody* being there anymore and when I waved and said 'Hey I'm still here!' it was pointed out that they were talking about the older and - I presume - more appreciated members.

No doubt I am just being a bit oversensitive and it will wear off. But just to say Hi! to you. And that I will continue to read the thread, along with your postings.

Hi az,

Thanks for the warm welcome back. smiley - cheers

Whether or not to post is, of course, your decision but I do enjoy reading your level-headed comments so I hope you won't be 'away' too long.

You asked me a question a while ago so to answer it - albeit vaguely - I'm about the same age as you.

The God threads get a bit tedious and/or pretentious at times but I like to throw in my smiley - 2cents from time to time. I was hoping to develop a discussion about the soul but that is being studiously ignored it seems.

What happened to 'A man from Mars'? Do you suppose he got bored and wandered away?

*About* the same as me, eh? smiley - biggrin

Yeah, I am probably just being silly about not posting for awhile on FFFF, but oh well.

I have no idea what happened to Man from Mars. Strange how some people turn up, post tons, and then just disappear. Maybe some of them come back under another name.

Tedious and/or pretentious at times . . . smiley - laugh Yes, that's true enough. Quite often *and*.

Hi,

Nice of you to ask. smiley - smiley

I'm very well, thank you. smiley - ok

I've been kinda busy but I've popped in and out from time to time. I noticed a post or two from you in the 'words you should hear less' thread and wondered if I should drop in on you so it was nice of you to call by.

I get interested in certain topics for a while and - when I've got time - will post fairly frequently. If the topic drifts or gets less interesting I might leave it and see how it develops before joining in again. Lately though I haven't even had time to lurk, let alone put up a reasoned argument or a piece of sparkling wit. (Whaddya mean 'when did you ever?')

How's things with you?

hello!

Well, unlike yourself I have had far too much time to hang about on h2g2. But I *am* hoping to get a life soon! So then everyone will see much less of me and BOY will they miss me when I'm gone. smiley - winkeye

I've mostly been arguing with Justin the Preacher lately, on his many threads, though I have no idea why.

Anyhow, don't be a stranger and pop by anytime.

Hi,

I took the liberty of following some links from your personal space to see who you had been talking to. smiley - blush

I can't see the point of replying to JtP, except perhaps to steer away the gullible and suggestible. JtP is clearly a disturbed individual and needs help. Perhaps instead of arguing with his psychotic viewpoint we should try a little on-line counselling. smiley - smiley

"Justin, come in, sit here and make yourself comfortable. The nurse will just give you a little injection to make you feel better while this nice man will bring you a stylish new jacket to wear. Yes the sleeves are a bit long. Just wrap them round the back. That's the ticket."

Actually his unshakeable faith is probably admirable. It's his desperate arrogance that gets me. Why does he think he should be one of the 0.5% to be 'saved'? Perhaps we could pursue that angle a bit? smiley - evilgrin

hola! smiley - smiley

Oh, I think people are trying all sorts of angles with ole Justin, but it is rather like talking to a brick wall. Also, he is seriously into name-calling and insulting others, yet when pheloxi just posted something similar to him he had the posting removed.

Yes, I have been referring to his arrogance on his threads quite a bit and he came back telling me that *I* was arrogant for saying so. smiley - biggrin

So, you've been lurking around my personal space, eh? Well, it's a public forum, after all. If I ever say anything I wouldn't like to be seen by all and sundry then that's my problem. Hence, I am also in contact by email and MSN with some of my hootoo friends and we are able to say whatever we like about anybody there! smiley - biggrin

I guess I stay with the Justin threads because I find the responses from other people quite interesting. Justin just provides the base for everyone to express their ideas against his particular form of Christianity. And in this way I have discovered that many people are very tolerant and caring and have learned things about them from what they post.

Anyhow, as I am sure you know, every good story needs a 'bad guy' to keep the action going.

Yes indeed, you know where you stand with a fanatic and pretty much what to expect. As a source of relentless rhetoric against which to test your favourite arguments he's hard to beat.

A key feature of arrogance is the belief that everyone else is wrong and therefore their statements are based on ignorant arrogance and not logic; as I'm always telling everyone. Hmmm. [loud crunch as Fathom resets his perspective] If I judge him as arrogant does that inevitably make me so? A vicious circle. What if he is arrogant - how can I demonstrate it without sounding worse? smiley - weird

Too much for a Tuesday afternoon. How are the cats? We don't have one but next door's comes to visit once in a while and we feed her when they go on holiday. She's seventeen which is a pretty good age for a town cat.

F

Post 17

Oh, I'm glad to hear your neighbour's cat is 17. Mine are all doing fine (touch wood) but are getting up there in age (13, 10 & 8) and lately I've been worrying that one of them might kick the bucket soon, which is something I can't even bear thinking about (so why do I? hmmmm . . . good question).

I have no problem telling Justin he is being arrogant without being arrogant myself. What can I say? It's a gift. smiley - winkeye

All day my right cheekbone has been hurting and my right eye is now going all wonky. I think I might be getting sinusitis. Either that or it's a brain tumour.

A gift? I see, much more modest than claiming an innate skill or something.

Can't be a brain tumour - it's well known that people with cats don't get brain tumours. Sinusitis or a blocked tear duct sounds more likely. Or fur balls. smiley - yuk

I think we're all occasionally a bit morbid, az. It keeps us on our toes.

Take care.

Hi az,

I'm well, thanks, how are you? Glad to hear you've got over the fur balls. smiley - biggrin

I've been really busy at w*rk and at home so I haven't had a lot of time to look into Hootoo for a while. Been doing some decorating and stuff at home, Christmas shopping and a really busy time in the office. They should move Christmas away from this busy period at the end of the year. smiley - erm

How's your festive preparations going? I'll be ready by about mid February at this rate.
