Az, right click your mouse on your desktop screen.

A little box should pop up.

At the bottom of the box you will see 'Properties'.

Left click on properties and another box will pop up.

This is the 'Display Properties' window.

On the right hand side you will see 'Settings'

Click on settings and at the bottom right you will see 'Advanced'.

Click on advanced and tell me what comes up next.

Tons of stuff. On the general page I have two sizes to choose from (96ppp and 120ppp). Should I change to 120? On the monitor page there is something to do with 'hercios'.

The rest of the pages don't seem to apply. But then, what do I know?

Perhaps "hercios" are "hertz". Which is the rate at which your monitor refreshes it's picture. The lower, the slower. You can often see it resetting, flickering in the corner of your eye rather fast. Higher is better.

Ten points to Fnord! Yes, they are hertz, but I don't think this would have any connection to my screen not being centred.

The hertz can be set from 60-100 and at the moment it is set on 60.

Az, can't you change the language to English. Open the control pannel and click on 'Regional Settings' and see what it's set on.

My ISP was down this morning and I've been painting the walls most of today so I haven't had much time to do anything else.

Well, it's set on Spanish of course. I'm a bit nervous about trying to make changes. From what I can see I get two options - maybe - either Spanish or American English.



I'm actually quite comfortable with the Spanish programme. It's just that when people ask me to look for stuff in English I'm not always sure what they mean.

Also, I'm using Windows XP, which I don't like as much as 98.

Buttons on the front of my monitor? Well, I'll be darned - so I do! Menu, Select, on/off, brightness and something else.

It's a Hyundai monitor. Was very cheap. But it works fine.
