age schmage!
Truly, I have a hard time understanding a friend who one day is making plans to come here for a holiday and visit and then suddenly disappears and ignores all silly yet friendly postings sent to him by possible future 'Spanish' hostess and tour guide.
Anyhow, if you think *your* RL is in limbo, you should try mine out for five minutes.
Sorry, I tend to get terribly oversensitive at times (just ask Fnord!) and today was definitely NOT one of my better ones. But I'm feeling okay now. Don't you ever have days like that?
Did you really check out my new Alji-designed page? Isn't it fab? I put in a few extra fish, but the changes Alji made (and heck, just even bothering to do it for me) was wonderful.
Okay that's all. Thanks for writing.

Do I have days like that?
Does a bear shit in the woods?
I think there's a temparemental difference in the way I react to them, though. I tend to withdraw, so if I'm fed up I tend to prefer my own company.

Yeah, we do seem to handle weird days quite differently. Rather than keep to myself (which would be the wise thing to do) I end up drinking wine and getting on h2g2 and making an @rse of myself.
Ah well, worse things happen at sea.
Am just having an msn chat with young Fnord. He says he wants to know about EVERYTHING . . . hmmm, this might take awhile. But that's okay, whatever I don't know I just make up anyhow (but don't tell him that!)

Yeah, I seem to remember that at that age I wanted to know everything too. Now I'm more like Isaac Newton "picking a few pebbles from the beach while all around me a great ocean of knowledge lies undiscovered." Or words to that effect.
Anyhoo, time for a spot of lunch, methinks

Oi! Less of the "young"! And for your information, you making up answers was pretty much apparent following your confusion over "Why not why not because?"

azahar Posted Sep 14, 2003
hey! I wasn't confused at all! (for a change )
In fact, I think I answered you with aplomb. Or at least with a load of nonsense. Take your pick.

A complete load of t*ss and sh*te, was what you answered me with. And cr*p tosh it was, too. "Yeah, why not that thing you said?".

azahar Posted Sep 14, 2003
Oh, knock it off already. The question was silly to begin with.
A complete load of toss and shite? Yeah, probably. So?

Okay, Noggin, I hand it over to you.
Try to answer the question - WHY?

So what? Now there's a question...
Got to go watch camp sitcom set in New York now. Catcha later...

Which one? Sex in the City? I've never seen that programme.
Anyhoodle, I didn't say 'so what?' just 'so?'
Which is a lead in for someone to say something else.
Sheesh.

Why? on its own is not a question. It's merely masquerading as one.
So answering with an answer that's not really an answer, but only masquerading as one, seems perfectly in order.
I do it all the time.

Noggin,
Well, to be fair, we were just kidding around. Or at least I was!
Anyhoodle, Fnord like to attack me on these things (don't you!) and it is never to be taken seriously.
Very hard to imagine my life these days without Fnord in it.
And you too, Noggin!

Well, I think my last remark should have given away the fact that I wasn't taking it too seriously either.
I'm often at my most t-i-c when I'm at my most pompous.

hey! Fnord told me that often my postings come across as sounding aggressive (???) Is this also your opinion?
I always think I am just being funny.

ps
basically, if I ever wanted to get aggressive there would be no doubt about it at all! (like on the abortion thread)

I wouldn't say so.
I wouldn't dare.
Seriously though, occassionally; but in a purely written medium it's easy to read in metamessages that aren't intended. (I know sheesh is essentially humorous, somebody else might not).
I know I've written things in the heat of debate that look more aggressive/more of a putdown after the event than I meant them to be at the time, but it depends as much on the reader really. Where one person is offended someone else takes it as part of the fun.
If in doubt, count to ten, and read it again.
