You're quiet, boots.
I guess you're bound to be quiet.
Like you say, we all learn in time to pull down the shutters.
I hope you're OK behind your shutters, dear friend.
See you out the other side, OK?
Pinsmiley - hug

Not great, Pin, but not terminal. I wish the sun would start shining again, then perhaps the shutters could be opened, not good in the dark.
Thanks friend. Looking forward to the other side, but it's such a long journey, you know that.

You mind if I try open them, then?

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself today - MFI wardrobes and bridging units have gone together remarkably well. They'll probably fall down when we put something in them, but for the time being I'm basking in the pretence of craftsmanship.

When in-laws next visit, they'll have a decorated guest-room, more or less. It's only taken me ten years (less two weeks, now I come to think of it. We moved in in '94? Ch-rist...)

As of Friday last, Scrof is on study leave for GCSE - which means among other things that she's worn her school uniform for the last time ever. Verm has a new jiu-jitsu club, and slams peers into the ground with increasing aplomb. The Weddell has shed some blubber and is feeling good about herself. All very positive, provided she doesn't develop an urge to feel good about me as well.

Work's OK-ish, and they still haven't sacked me. Someone seems to have thrown out my cricket-whites while I wasn't looking. I'm also smarting a bit about finding out I don't have the nerve to clear the gutters, in spite of borrowing next door's ladders (the bit with the plant growing out of it is a bit of a stretch at height - I got up there and didn't like the look of it at all...)

So, as you see, pretty humdrum, which is just as it should be as summer ambles in. How about your good self?

smiley - laugh Hey friend, good to hear from you. Tarantino will be after your life story rights if you're not careful!
You know what it's like in the home counties when the season begins...
In between polo, the house of Lords, Ascot, weddings and christenings, a poor girl barely has time for Chelsea!
Throw in a cat from hell with a bladder problem, a heading for middle aged 'I'm off to find myself and see the Dali Lama and no I don't like hamsters' gapee, returning from the Himalayas and a baby boots who is demanding the entire clan be present for her impending graduation in Aberbloodydeen.
"Oh mum, I know I haven't got a first!"
Yeah right, miss 'I'm going to rule the world'. Of course you'll get a first! They're terrified of you, we're all terrified of you! They wouldn't dare not give you a first.
How, may I ask you, am I supposed to find time to find a day job?
Am working on it though. Can't write at the moment, hence few postings. Suspect when day job is secured the fingers will find more inspiration. For now I just let summer crash in!

...Anyway, what do you expect when you disparage my simple Northern lifestyle?

I wasn't really lurking. I was finishing something off. Odd. I nearly posted it to the new AWW, and then decided that it's the same as the old AWW (apols to Mr Townsend).

In which vein, I was playing my guitar and even singing very quietly with the doors shut, when, all of a sudden...

But you don't want to hear about that. BOR-ING!

Sorry about that. Needed sleep. Still do. Cat will survive, bank balance won't. Ravager pup back from the Himalayas on Sunday so will have my own in house picker back for a while...I only ever mastered rudimentary Buddy Holly and it loses everything musical in my translation.
Day job getting critical, enthusiasm for same not even at the tepid stage, but best go and fill in a few more forms.
Did the annual H of L gig last night. Daughter -in-law says

"If they've got a buy one get one free offer, bring one back for me!"

No such luck. Managed to rebel and leg it onto the H of C's terrace which was far more fun. We even spotted a pint of Guiness (obviously Sien Fein) and rounded off a decadent evening by throwing glasses into the Thames. Not approved of by the 'last orders' jobsworth!
How cool is this they don't actually say 'last orders' there. Instead they ring a bell and pronounce "The carriages are waiting." As if!
Hey ho back to the reality of unemployment.
take care

smiley - rofl at your journal. They should follow you around with a camera, and broadcast it uncut. Beat any sitcom.

Or maybe you just make it up, in which case you are doubly a genius.

Sorry about A2677872. I should have consulted you before desecrating your manor, right?

But seriously, you OK, Boots? We do worry a bit sometimes.

You worry a bit sometimes? You should see it from my side!
Seriously, thanks and... it's up and down.
Like the piece lots btw but you obviously failed to observe the allotments off the esher bypass in your travels smiley - winkeye. Almost scruffy, in a designer kind of way!
Take care

I'm a hypocrit. I don't think I've ever been on the Esher By-Pass.
If there really are allotments, then maybe I'll ought to adjust my prejudices.

At least three sets of allotments in a two mile radius! One just 500 yards away and yes I am a member. No of course I don't grow anything! Can you imagine me in barbours? The garden is an allotment too far as it is!
Surrey is not all snobbery and sherry you know, in fact I've seen greater sobbery in Northern climes where everyone is expected to know their place. Down here they're too busy climbing over each other on the social ladder to care, but at least they are afforded the luxury of the climb!
Now Berkshire, that was a long time ago. Horses, dogs, shooting mmmm perhaps a little grand but the reality of country living too.
As I am sure there are pockets of the north that possess charm, wit, incisive minds and gregarity (is that a word? If it isn't it should be! smiley - winkeye only joshing!)
Take care

Either you're feeling down, or you're growing up.
Either's pretty worrying, yeah?

Thanks for being there. Bit of both. Vascillating between seven and seventy five. Can't write at the moment so don't think I can offer the site a great deal. Busy looking for day job. Helped friend out with exhibition this weekend so absolutely knackered. The partying was harder than the gig.I am definitely getting to old for it - the partying not the gigs.
take care, friend.

Being a bit of a grown up at the moment, 'twas time.
Told fishboy that I spent a terminal temping week in boys place that does things with machines. Stuffing useless as always but apparantly 'entertainment value'. Hmmmm not sure that was meant to be my vocation.
Baby boots graduates next week. 2/1 Scottish masters, upper first for dissertation (I told her she'd get into trouble if she played truant too often).
Getting stronger. Will be back when I have something to say that makes me laugh. For now just exploring who I am. Some of its OK, a lot I'm not too fond of.
Hope all is well with yourself, the slimline Wedell and the offsprung.
Take care good friend.

Hi boots!

Well you were here today and of course I missed it.
How are you doing?
Life here in the Grim North is good and a 25th Wedding Anniv is approaching fast.
You know about Hyp's various I guess, including the UK trip? So now I can put a face to Waz and Ben.
I hope you'll be back now and then and not do a Trout, posting one-liners every three months but staying hidden otherwise.
Take care, like you always tell us to.
Pinsmiley - hug

Hey Pin
Good to hear from you and congrats on the quarter century! I heard about Hyp's trip but am a little uncertain on 'the various'- elucidate please.
Life not bad amd getting better. Dealt with a lot of stuff that had to be dealt with and facing up to the rest.
Job good (but hardly world peace) I am a natural born socialiser!
Think I will start doing more stuff on site again. Been doing real life writing but miss the post and fun stuff. Editing magazine now so having to be a little more disciplined. Pretty pants at it, only like doing the ego stuff, editorial and articles! But it is making me proof better and my mate on the paper is right, I need to fill in more.
"Don't assume everyone thinks at your pace trollop, remember most people are profoundly stupid!" - Love him!

UD stuff sounds well scary, have you a link?
Take care and tap soon
