I'm good. We're good.
Really looking forward to Christmas.
First bash tomorrow night - the company do, but it'll be special this year. We've stuff to celebrate and one helluva venue.

Stuff to celebrate? Now I'm curious. Venue? Well we could play venue dropping I suppose!
My bashes are thankfully almost at an end...socialising can be quite exhausting, even for one as adept at it as I smiley - winkeye
Quiet Christmas planned with baby boots and the boy's family. Then three days with Crisis in London to make up for hedonistic year.

I thought you'd never ask.

Hey well done Pin!
(Not quite sure what the award is but obviously very clever and well deserved and something to do with metal which probably has nothing to do with earings!)
Need to see the venue.
My venues wonderfully posey and the company veritably regal smiley - winkeye but alas my skills are merely of the social networking variety so praise neither courted nor deserved.
Oh what a vapid life I lead!
All change in the New year methinks. Time to do and to give and to work and not to waste.
Have lost your off line email and being (still) blonde don't know how to do links properly. Ravager pup returns in January so he can give me more lessons. Would love to send some stuff over for critique and also some fun work related stuff that the family might enjoy coming to.

It's the city's Outstanding Business Award. City as in Sheffield, not what you'd call a citysmiley - winkeye
But it's not just for metal-bashers. We beat off all-comers (including a racy lingerie firm in the final shortlist)
The trophy is pretty stunning. Specially commissioned by the Assay Office, and we get to keep it too.
The venue for the dinner (2 nights ago now) is here :

I can't find any pictures on the web that do the interior justice. It's a Tardis of a building, and the banqueting hall is just beautiful. I got to say grace, too.
I thought I'd still got your e-mail but it looks like it was last on the computer that blew up. I must have it in my notes somewhere. I'll dig it out. Or was it the flowershop, maybe.
Is there a way in through Sadie? I guess I should go look.
It would definitely be good to see your latest, and that last bit sounds intriguing...

Well done with the award you must be pretty good at your day job then; can't be easy beating a saucy underwear team!
Venue looks positively splendid too. I have been to some wonderful London ones this year and they still impress. It's just the whole history thing.

Best grace I heard this year was at the Guildhall in Bath, Arthur Philip (he took the first fleet to Australia) celebration.
The Bishop of somewhere or other (probably Bath and Wells) was saying grace and he said:
'Thank you Lord for this wonderful celebration and for letting us stuff the Aussies at cricket!' Loved it!

You should be able to get through via Sadie but I think it might be down at the moment and yes the other one was team at 'the flower shop' dot com. Sold the business but kept the company.

Happy Christmas to you and family. Have a good one!
Take care
Boots

Wo boots

Hope you're good.

We're good. I got sent home because I had too much untaken holiday, and won't have to go into work till 22nd, just in time to go off again. So I'm putting the finishing touches to the Weddell's new kitchen. It's rather nice, if I say so myself. And it should be. I worked out it's cost more than we paid for our first house.

We are moderately credit-crunched (like everyone) but those of us who want to work are still in work, and since our life savings are now bound up in kitchen appliances I think we have a pretty solid recession-proof investment plan, just as long as we can scratch together enough stuff to cook.

Scrof is at Uni, embroidering, and Verm is in GCSE year and doing grown-up things like playing guitar a lot better than I can and being a ju-jitsu black belt. The Weddell is mainly being imperious and obviously destined to be a radiant and venerable matriarch - cf Yesterday's conversation:
Pin: This modern satin gloss paint stuff is crap. Look at this door. I painted it, what, two months ago and it's already lost all its sheen and there are fingermarks on it.
Weddell: That would be seven months. You painted it the day after my mother's birthday. Moreover, I feel obliged to stick up for the paint manufacturer on this one. He probably assumed, quite reasonably in my opinion, that anyone buying his paint would actually apply it to something before criticising it.
Pin: What the hell are you talking about?
Weddell: That's undercoat on that door, you idiot. That's as far as you got. The gloss is in the garage, still in the [expletive deleted] tin.
Pin: Just for once, could we have a conversation without you calling me an idiot?
Weddell: If only that were possible, I would be more pleased than you, but I think you have to concede that this particular conversation is not going to be the breakthrough one, yes? Because once again you have done and said something idiotic, yes?

The trouble is, all our friends agree with her. I've noticed that most of the Xmas cards we've had so far are to The-Weddell-and-Family and a couple are actually to The-Weddell-and-the-Girls. With no mention of the household's token males, viz me, the budgie and (possibly) Scrof's snake who at least has the decency to be indeterminate.

Anyway, if you're out of practice, and even if you're not, you should sign up for this:

Your hootoo needs you.

In the meantime, Merry Xmas to You and Yours (in which the possessive pronoun specifically refers to all genders)

B***** thought I'd replied
Apologised for not responding earlier. Day job proving time consuming, it takes snow to communicatee it appears.
Wished you all a happy new year, sympathised with the Wedell's DIY predicament, cooed in all the right places over the achievements of your youthful ones, filled you in on the life learning curve of 'she who must be obeyed' and ravager pup and then obviously didn't hit the button.
Not sure about this sense of community that the snow is supposed to have brought us. The media is saying people love the snow and it is bringing communities together...Hmm methinks tis the novelty!
Soemwhere in Siberia
'Buon Journo Vladimir, Great snow this morning n'est pas?'
As he thumps him on the back and continues his jolly walk through the Gulag.
On the other hand, it is the first time in many months I have posted to this site, so perhaps a modicom of truth.
Ah how I miss the indulgence of timelessness.
Hope all still good with you and yours
Take care
Boots
