Rick, I have just visited the R3 MB's. There is a thread there about the closing hours at R3~~"Holiday period MB opening times". This what someone posted:

"Why not try a "free thinking" experiment and leave these MB's open 24 hours during the moderator's holidays?"

That made me smile. You need to read the other posts to understand. Have a look if you have time. It's humorous reading.

Well, time for another cup of tea. Or some Bailey's! I haven't got any other alcohol in my home. smiley - doh Actually, I have. It's in the double cream I bought in M&S!!!smiley - winkeye

Hi polly,I used my webcam this morning to chat to my sister, even though I'm from a large family,we have'nt all met since mom and dad died(some of them could'nt even be bothered to turn up for that,)still that's another tale.

Yet if you do have a webcam(about a tenner)you and your daughter could see each other and chat for nothing as often as you like/have time, on microsoft messenger(MSN)it warms you up to see someone special when you're down, head up gal.R.smiley - cheerup

Hello dear Rick. I've been out all afternoon at a disabled friends home. I made some ham and mustard sandwiches for our tea. smiley - smiley

I don't understand anything about web-cams! smiley - blush I suppose that they are a great idea, but my daughter would not use it! She is so very busy most days. She has to commute 2 hours a day to and from work. And her free time is used for her uni essays. This is her last year(a 5 year course), so there are some very important essays to get finished.

Rick, I didn't realise that you had lost your parents. That is why some of your poetry is so poignant, isn't it? Were you close in spirit to your parents? My little family was very insular(very unheard of these days, I'm sure!). We were so very happy~~just the 4 of us. That is why I miss them so very much. My brother was a wonderful young man. We would have great days out together, or take my daughter out for picnics, or to go the theatre in London...... I miss him every day...................

Dear Rick, thank you for the web-cam suggestion. smiley - hug

I do pray that you are all having a happy evening together. Before I went out this afternoon, I did some more of my home-made insulation! My bedroom needs lots~~all around the edges of the skirting. I'm sure that this ancient building is ready to collapse!!

Enjoy the remainder of your Christmas break. I hope that everyone is happy. I might go to Wimborne tomorrow evening.

What are you doing for New Year's evening? Do you all go out somewhere? I shall most likely be on the MB's, or in bed. It is always a very sad evening for me.

Thank you for all your messages. You have no idea how much they have meant to me (I, too, have a long story to tell!).

Warm wishes, and happiness to you and your family, tonight.

Polly

Dear Rick,

I think it is time that I went to bed~~or did some more of my DIY! The tears are everywhere again. Maybe some more Bailey's to lull me to sleep and forget the sorrows.

Goodnight. Thank you so much for your company this evening. Take care tomorrow if you are back at work.

Thankfully I am not at all cold tonight, so no need for double hot-water bottles!

Sweet dreams.

Hi Rick.

I'm back home now for a few days. I was so glad to see Pixie-Lu when I got in this evening. I really miss him when I stay away.

I'm off to the sales tomorrow (in Winchester). I am searching for a duffel coat. An old fashioned one.

How is your tummy problem? Has it healed itself during the Christmas lull?

Have you had a busy day today, or a lazy one in front of the television? I found out that I missed a Bette Davis film.

I got a DVD for Christmas. Guess what it is! Here's a clue: It makes me cry every time I watch it. And I become very patriotic. I've always loved this film.

I should be making my supper but the kitchen is so cold! It's home-cooked ham tonight(yep~I cooked it!), and home-made chips. I rarely eat chips, so I'm looking forward to them. And lots of mustard. No eggs though, and no tomatoes.

Hi Polly,http://www.matalan.co.uk/pages/products/002/094
My stomach's still iffy, might be seeing the doc again yuck!
Apart from a walk to the bakers to get a home baked farmhouse loaf I've been bone idle.smiley - erm

Gosh, they are so inexpensive. I've never been to a Matalan shop. I think that Jigsaw had one(there's a Jigsaw in Winchester).

Poor you. I thought that your tummy might have healed by now. Maybe you need some anti-biotics.

I had a letter waiting for me, from my GP. I've got to go back to Lymington hospital for another chest X-Ray. Ho-hum. Oh well. What will be will most certainly be.

Tut tut! Bone idle! I've been so very busy today. By 3pm I wanted to go to sleep. I hardly slept last night. I think I had about 3 hours sleep! I'm really weary now. Want to come and do my chips for me, please? smiley - winkeye

That's it! I'm off to the Arctic to get the potatoes washed and cut! smiley - snowmansmiley - snowballsmiley - llabwons

Rick, I didn't mention your son's degree, did I. You must be very proud of him. Isn't it great when our children do so well in their studies. My daughter got her B.Sc.degree 2 years ago. I think I felt more proud on that day than at her wedding. She had achieved it all on her own, and worked so very hard for 3years. She won various awards including student of the year(out of all the hundreds of students).

Next year, she will have her Masters ceremony. I can't wait for that moment of triumph in her life.

It looks as though so many of our cyber-friends must have gone away for Christmas. The MB's are very quiet again tonight.

I shall wish you a 'Goodnight', and tidy up for the night. Would you believe, it is too hot in here tonight! My cat is loving it though!

'Night 'Night.
